My wife, Nancy Drew, suspects that he is covering for them because he is a convicted molester and was neigbors with them and came from Alabama like them. That he knows them and figures he'll cover for them or something.

  • that dude is reaaaaaaly weird looking, and 'JonBenet' is a woman????!? i'll just crawl back under my rock now...

Supposedly dude was facing possible death sentence in Thailand. This gets him a ticket back to the U.S. where we don't punish these fuckers they way we should.

Is he creepy - no question.

Is he a sleazebag - yep, history of child molestation.

Should he be punished to the max for what he did in Thailand - absolutely

Did he kill Jon Benet - I doubt it.

    (huge pic of red herring)

Do you really believe that, or are you just stirring the pot?

I really don't think this guy has anything to do with JonBenet's death. And according to news interview's, Polly Klaas' dad doesn't think so, either.

I'm not saying that this guy is an angel, I'm just saying that I don't think he did it. Klaas' dad points out that Karr (the suspect) was facing time in a Thai prison and might just say anything (i.e. confess to anything) to get extradited back to the States.

I also haven't found any articles on the suspect that say that he ever lived in Boulder. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

This whole thing seems very sketchy to me.

I completely agree. Maybe he did it, but at this point I am skeptical til I hear/see some evidence. Not just some sick dude's say-so.

I haven't read that he has a history of child molestation, only an accusation of having been caught with child porn (which is bad enough).

I also found this today on sfgate.com:

"The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing suspended Karr's credential on April 11, 2002, for allegedly committing an offense "involving aiding and abetting the unlawful sale, use or exchange to minors of controlled substances," according to the minutes of the commission's meeting.

Authorities learned during the investigation that Karr had also been fired from teaching jobs in Georgia and another southern state amid similar allegations. "

I haven't heard what he did in Thailand, if anything. I thought he was arrested there because the Boulder, CO police want him extradited and that the Royal Thai police (file under "not to be fucked with") were willing to cooperate/didn't want a wanted American in their country.

i'd like to see a source on him facing the death penalty in Thailand, if there is one...sounds like BS to me. This is pretty weird and sketchy, but I also think a lot of people on this board automatically assume EVERYTHING is some sort of conspiracy or cover up.

Local radio news this morning did indeed report he was facing the death penalty ....I've spent 30 minutes searching and can't find a thing to that effect.

They also said he had made frequent trips to Thailand and I can't find anything verifying that either.

Yes, I am guilty of jumping to conclusions when given partial/incomplete and possibly incorrect info.

But......now that I read more about this guy I'd bet big bucks he didn't do it.

His brother said the child porn charges were a result of him doing research for a book he was writing.

Can we now officially call this the "Pete Townsend Defense"??

Karr Says He Loved JonBenet 'Very Much'
By JOCELYN GECKER, Associated Press Writer

    (08-17) 07:17 PDT BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) --

The suspect in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey said he loved the 6-year-old beauty queen "very much" and is "very sorry for what happened."

In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, John Mark Karr said that he contacted JonBenet's mother, Patsy, before she died of cancer in June to express his remorse for the killing.

"I conveyed to her many things, among them that I am so very sorry for what happened to JonBenet," Karr said as U.S. and Thai authorities escorted him from his Bangkok hotel, where he spent over an hour packing his belongings.

Karr said it was his understanding that Patsy Ramsey read letters that he sent to her. He said JonBenet's death was "an accident."

"It's very important for me that everyone knows that I love her very much and that her death was unintentional," said Karr, who sweated and stuttered occasionally as he spoke in a quiet voice.

Karr, 41, was arrested Wednesday, halfway around the world from Boulder, Colo., where JonBenet's body was found beaten and strangled in her parent's basement on Dec. 26, 1996.

He declined to disclose the nature of his supposed relationship to the Ramsey family, or how he may have known JonBenet.

Asked for details of how she died, Karr replied: "It would take several hours to describe — to describe that."

"There's no way I could be brief about it. It's a very involved series of events," said Karr, who speaks with a thick Southern accent. "It's very painful for me to talk about."

Earlier in the day, Karr spoke briefly to reporters after a news conference by American and Thai authorities.

"I was with JonBenet when she died," he told reporters. Asked if he was innocent, he said: "No."

Karr will be taken within the week to Colorado, where he will face charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault, said Ann Hurst of the Department of Homeland Security, one of several officials who accompanied the suspect back to his hotel.

In the run-up to Karr's arrest, U.S. authorities had rented rooms at The Blooms, the budget hotel where Karr was staying in a central Bangkok neighborhood of massage parlors and travel agencies catering to expatriates and sex tourists.

The hotel offers rooms for as little as three hours for $8 and monthly stays starting at $170.

Karr was staying on the top floor of the nine-story hotel in a small single room.

U.S. and Thai authorities wearing plastic gloves sorted through his possessions, which were wheeled away on a luggage rack, and included a laptop computer and two suitcases.

Dressed in a baggy turquoise polo shirt and khaki pants, Karr said that JonBenet's death was "not what it seems to be," though he declined to
    elaborate.

"In every way," he added, as authorities bundled him into a waiting vehicle. "It's not at all what it seems to be." ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Ex-Wife's Alibi

While Karr said he was with JonBenet when she died, his ex- wife, Lara, said he was with her throughout the 1996 Christmas season in Alabama, where the Karr family lived at the time, the Associated Press reported.

There is no listing for John Karr in Colorado. Calls to two residential listings for John Karr in Georgia, where the Rocky Mountain News said Karr used to live, weren't returned.

Karr became a focus of the investigation after he e-mailed Michael Tracey, a University of Colorado journalism professor who produced three documentaries on the Ramsey case, university spokesman Barrie Hartman said.

``They did talk about the case, and what this man said led Michael to continue the conversation and led him to contact the authorities,'' he said.

U.S. and Thai authorities worked together for more than two months to locate Karr, who has been away from the U.S. for three years and has been in and out of Thailand five times since 2005, Hurst said.

Karr had started work Aug. 15 as a second-grade teacher in an international school in Bangkok, Lacy said. Karr was arrested in March 2001 on child pornography charges in Sonoma County, California, Denver television station KUSA reported, citing the district attorney's office there.

Patsy Ramsey died in June of ovarian cancer after battling the disease since 1993. Karr told AP he had written to her before she died.

``Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder,'' John Ramsey said in a statement yesterday. "

Days like yesterday are why the media just grinds my teeth. People in the media LOVED roasting the Ramsey Family alive for their assumed guilt when this first happened, milking them and the crime for years. Then yesterday, it's all "poor Patsy Ramsey, everyone should learn a lesson, don't rush to judgement, it was this child molester all along, blah, blah, blah". Now today, this weirdo's extremely suspect story regarding an infamously complicated and twisted case is finally being viewed as a bit askew, and maybe we all ought to just wait a bit before putting this one to bed.

I don't know who did it, but I certainly dont think every pedophile is trustworthy(even about their own alleged crimes) and many a prosecutor has pushed ahead with little evidence and hoping for a lot of ink.
