Been buying very few records lately but i've enjoyed most of the ones i've bought in the last month or so.

Harmonettes from JP (thanks! just arrived today.), Super Ape (island press; after having a burned cd for so long, snagged one off ebay), Bejart from a trade with PCMR (thanks!), Roy Ayers and curtis from Hydeparkrecords! Man, Donny Hathaway is . This one is as good, if not better than "everything is everything", imho.

Hydeparkrecords has quality goods, and is related to a well-known strut member (if he's not on here himself)

Thanks to that Motown thread, I actively sought out and found Smokey Robinson's "Pure Smokey" LP from 72. Looking forward to some smooth soul weirdness from the Miracle.

Other finds on the moder dollar-bin side of the spectrum:
Race "Show Me The Way" 12 inch single (Atlantic, 1982)
Timmy Thomas "My Last Affair" 12 inch single (SRI, 1982)
    Alvin Fields - Special Delivery (A&M, 1981)
Ronnie Dyson - Brand New Day (Cotillion, 1983)
(Reggie) Griffin - Hot Fingers (Qwest, 1984)
Bill Summers and Summers Heat - 17 (MCA, 1982)
Rene and Angela - Rise (Capitol, 1983)

    and some eBay/interweb splurges:
John Valenti - Anything You Want (Ariola, 1976) - ABSOLUTELY STUNNING ALBUM!
BB and Q Band - Genie (Elektra, 1986)

word, i was VERY pleased and surprised at the selection. Hadn't seen so many staple soul, funk, and even some strata-east records in one shop ever. i guess location probably helps inventory too, as i saw a lot of doubles and triples of things.

I copped a 13th Floor Elevators out of the dollar bin last Saturday. Only one problem - the previous owner xacto cut the eye out of the center of the cover.

HPR was started by my brother, and two of his buddies. My bro recently "got out the biz", but the 2 guys that still run it are doing a fine job. Very solid soul funk jazz disco and rapps always arriving over there. They just got an Asteroids machine in recently too, which is bringing in the kiddies by the droves.

Belfast Gypsies is a 70's UK press I copped cheap online.
A few cheap nice ones like the NYC, and Travis Wammack on Fame has some
ill shit going on - crazed fuzztone cover of Funk #49! - Joe Gibbs & the Professionals
has some sweet DJ work on it, real nice US OG...
Simon Dupree is ultra-mod UK soul rock, and pretty excellent stuff. Features
future proggers of Gentle Giant...It even has a sick break! check it: Simon Dupree & the Big Sound - What Is Soul MP3

12"s are TJ Swann reish and dollar bin Harold Melvin two-sided hits plus
    Instant Funk "mind made up"

Anybody ever seen this one before:

LOL dudes name takes some work to say, they tell you how to
pronounce it on the sleeve, on the label, in the dead wax...
Somewhere between Mitch Ryder and Roy Head, there's Wayne Logiudice

I basically bought it because of the liner notes on the back of the sleeve:

He's a party starter: Wayne Logiudice - Come On Everybody (Let's Get Some Action On) MP3

Kind of scored tonight, a bunch of newly arrived and dirt cheap
45's at my reg spot - conditions vary (the Larry Sanders is an ill
45 but the copy is pretty busted), but [DAKAR] the following were
all fifty-cents to two dollars apiece:[/DAKAR]

Somebody hand me a late pass on Darrow Fletcher - I knew the name but
I think that may have been the first time I heard him...his voice blew
me away...lots of good stuff here, Precisions is a fairly common and
completely dope 2-sided Detroit banger: Precisions - You'll Soon Be Gone MP3

Flip of the Smokey 007 is a dub of 100 Pounds of Clay:
    Smokey 007 - 100 Pounds Dub MP3

Wish the Larry Sanders were cleaner, I'd post it up...

Anybody ever seen this one before:

Yep my co-DJ Midnite Cowbwoy has had that one for a year or two... but this is the first one I've seen outside of his playbox.

And ha ha ha do a Google search on "larry sanders story of my love 45" and you'll find my playlist from 2002. NY label but as I recall he's from Richmond VA.

Not so remote, actually. I might have this recorded by tomorrow, so watch this space.

Until then, cosmicgrooves london has mp3 snipits from their cd reissue. Check that first.
