    ah, that Earth Roots & Water is killer!

    That was the 45 (mistakenly!) included with the LP you traded way back when. That and the poster, which [pothead laziness] I still need to get framed.. [/pothead laziness]

    I forgot about that! I think you and I are the only people I know with that poster - even the reggae dealers in town have never seen it.

    My man Colin (drummer from Earth Roots and Water) cried when I played him that 45.

    I forgot this (sounds rockabilly???)

    weekday find of the year:

    starting a new job! i quit my high-stress, low pay, questionably-scientific research job to join a laid back, top notch lab in my specific field of interest, which pays more (just icing on an otherwise delicious cake, but slightly more pay = slightly more records...now who's got a nm- copy of jeanne lee's "conspiracy" to sell me?)

    Maybe the megapixel setting? My camera is pretty low megapixel (3.2) & when I try close ups they turn out pretty similar.

    over hurr i hit a fairly stunning jazz collection and a psych/??? pile as well,
    plucked many gems ive never seen in person before. the jazz included a 45 pile,
    never seen so many little baby blue notes and prestiges before. (all 45s put to
    shame by the killer K finds of course!)

















    these arent records but you may be as amused as i was at these wild/goofy covers.
    some of these can be fairly pricey i think, but they werent today.

    best for last! 3 packs of unopened rap trading cards at a junk store! start

    Man, that's some beautiful Jazz action. I love old Jazz 45s, they are so cool, I just wish they turned up more often.

    First, "Tenor Madness" is such a fantastic album. If that's OG,
    that's pretty sweet. Also, that John Fred is pretty slept-on
    bubblegum psych...everyone seems to land that ISB record on LHI,
    yet I only find rinked copies.

    Questions - I've always wanted to know, is that Jimmy Scott LP
    on Atlantic the jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott, diminuitive fella
    that's still recording today at like 92 years old?

    Also, what is that Valvoline record like? Cover is fresh
    but that could be anything!

    Nice finds as usual, KP - some of that psych is real quality stuff.

    ive never even seen one before today, so i dont know whos been landing it. the scary part is it looks unplayed. most of the psyche is in awesome shape.

    im not sure, but this is a vocalist indeed, so youre probably guessing right. no pic of the guy so i dont know how diminuitive he is.

    its kind of.. everything. think of a LP length 'milk' record, only about motor oil, complete with 60s radio spots, 'testimonials' from 'customers' (some of these are pretty funny/useable), a live bill cosby comedy segment(???), sudden instrumental passages that rise and fall without warning, and plenty of straight laced "60's guy" narrator extolling the virutes of using valvoline. side 2 is a bunch of random 60s instrumentals, jazzy/soundtrack/loungey/cheesey. It basically sounds like 60s tv.

    Yeah, the ISB is a record my friends seem to enjoy pulling
    while digging with me at shows or on road trips...

    Jimmy Scott is pretty ill - sings in what I assume is a soprano
    or high tenor, you think it's a woman if you don't know better -
    I saw him live a couple years back, dude is pushing 100 and sang
    like an angel. I seriously had tears running down my face just
    from the way he puts over a song.
