Yes, very much. This album (Ten) stays in heavy rotation in the :

    aural art.

Who the hell are they? Never heard their music and judging by that picture somebody posted, I don't think I want to. Those guys look like a bunch of drunk homeless skateboarders. Are their beats smashin' Jay Dee and Just Blaze productions? I didn't think so. LOL. Don't have time for that. WHO CARES?

    I feel the same way.

I like anticon when they are not trying to rap.

Check the new Why? Album. It is some lo-fi folky artsy rock type stuff. No rappin. Although there is a terrible ordeal with some turntable scratchin.

Their earlier stuff is WAAAAAYYYY better, but still not good. Trash basically. I can count on one finger the amount of tracks I like.

I worked in recprd stores for 5 years and because of that heard damn near every anticon release from '99 - '04

the only one I ever liked was an all instrumental album

Jel is dope on the beats and Sole is a nice dude the few times I met him waaaaaaaay back before they got the cult going, but i'm not feeling their music at all.

That whole sad rap/"come cry with me on the limb of a tree" shit is mad .

    "latchkey kid

my mother fed me hot pockets

now it's my turn to get on the mic and rock it"

    erm...

Yeah I got that as well. I scooped it for the J. Rawls produciton.

There is like one good track: Spitfire with Lioness.

that goes for close to a bill on the bay.

would you say it's a "worth it" hundred dollar record?

  • Cool folks, but i don't really listen to any of their albums.

Some of the live shows are good though: Why? with a live band is pretty dope
and Dosh (also the drummer for Fog) puts on an incredible one-man live show
with a drum set, keyboard, drum machine, and looping pedal. Goes off making
beats, building up layers, adding weird noise, echos, and glitches, and keeps
it in the pocket the whole time.

this is probably my favorite even though it was released before Anticon. pretty raer i think on vinyl.

anticon really shouldn't even be put on blast by hip hoppers. it is just too damn easy, so easy that i believe it should just be categorized closer to alt rock, then most hip hoppers wouldn't slam the shit.

i like some of the anticon work. but i'm not that big of an alt rock fan.

I like the "Them" record. It's not for everybody, but it's a good album.

"Greenball" is something most of you producers would feel.

Pretty much anything with Jel on the SP1200, but most of those dudes need to put down the mic and consider a dildo.

i totally forgot about this, but it has it's moments, i have to skip a ton of tracks. also there was one great beat on the other them(selves) record. the one with the crazy horns where jel (i guess, is he a dj?) cuts in "those who cannot be themselves will be destroyed" from prt and masta ace going "i would never bring sand to the beach"

Controller 7 dropped a halfway decent LP "The Left HAnd Straw" awhile back, and the El-P/Sole beef was mildly enthralling way back when.

But as of late, they ar just kind of ehh.

it's called Dark Sky Demo, my favorite track on that album.

I like anticon records, I prefer the earlier shit but I'll still peep their new stuff
