Oh wow listen to this heavy chune I just got in the mail:Three Man Army: "Polecat Woman" (from TWO LP, Reprise 1974) 
"In the years to come, (Three Man Army bassist/vocalist, far left) Paul Gurvitz played on and produced his brother's solo albums and went to the US in 1985 to work as a songwriter and producer. The Matisyahu of the 90s!
It rips off AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and the Doors all at the same time, plus throw in a Styeppenwolf cover for good measure.
But your response speaks right to my ongoing contention that Rick Rubin more often than not makes any group he produces sound as close to Back in Black as possible.
If only "Mutt" Lange still knew how to do that.

I gotta co-sign on White Stripes - I think they sound way more like
Led Zep than the Stones - in fact, the first time I ever heard them,
this girl I was dating played one of their early 7" for me, and I
immediately dismissed them as a "Led Zep ripoff." They eventually
grew on me a bit more, but I still hear way more "Heartbreaker" ala
Led Zeppelin II than "Heartbreaker" ala Goats Head Soup
in their sound...
Any of you know about the Farlowe/zepplin connection?

speaking of, I was watching The Song Remains the Same for the first time in years last night, great flick. John Bonham is totally insane, there is a part of the movie where you see an overhead of him on the kit and for a good 15 secs it looks like the scene is on fast forward, true facemelt.
Go back 1 page. Yeh. The LP was put out by Zeppelin on their own short-lived label. Frontman was the husband of Pamela Plaster Caster, or whatever, and later guest starred on Roseanne.
The 'Levee' break clone song is called "Competetion".
