I Don't Know was the first SV track I ever heard and is still one of my fave Dilla tracks. Can't believe the man has passed on...

  • stakes is high
    runnin

and i think the production for "hey you" off of labcabin is criminally slept on

    damn
    so many memories

    RUFF DRAFT MA FUCKAS!!!!!!!!!

    KEEP CRUSHINNNNNN

"???I wanna FFFFFFFTT all night. CLEAN IT UP!". Maaan, I love that EP.

A lot of good ones mentioned already, but these are two of the more obscure ones that melt my face every time I hear them:

DJ Cam feat. Larry Blackmon from Cameo "Love Junkie (Dilla Remix)"

Spacek "Eve (Dilla Remix feat. Frank'n'Dank)"

Listening to Dilla from now on will be with a combination of and sadface. I'm just glad he left SO much good shit for us to enjoy while he was here.

I don't listen to much hip hop, so I don't have a pick. I know some his stuff I heard has great little guitar loops.

I met the man. He will be long missed.

Heeellll yeah. Best use of Long Red ever!

Jay Dee has been breaking my face since LabCabin. Listening to the She Said 12" now with "Something That Means Something" on the flip. That STMS instrumental has got these crazy little details going on that you don't notice when you listen to the vocal version. He was always coming with some clever and soulful shit.

  • another good one is that bossa nova track on welcome to detroit. theres a remix of ms. jackson with that track on a dj jamad mix thats really great.. im listening to nothing but dilla the rest of the day. in fact i think i'll make a cd comp right now. track one verbal clap!.

Verbal Clap was the best track on that album IMO

I rarely ask for MP3s but I have a show tonight and I want to do a tribute set. My Slum Village records are all in storage. Can anybody up some SV MP3s?

    Hey,

The 'Ville was my old stompin' ground. Is the Muzik Hut still in the Flea Market Mall? I pulled many gems back when I used to shop there (e.g., all the Funkadelic's Westbound joints, Rotary Connection S/T, S.O.B., "Osmium" by Parliament, "Excursions", etc.). That was one of my favorite spots of the late 80's, early 90's. Respect!!!

    Peace,
