K i've debated buying that quite a few times but never did .. worth it? their other album that pops up is garbage.. hope that one is better!

also, nice seeing you saturday night.. slept through that auction we talked about.. .. was up late finishing something for a mutual friend of ours.. however, i will take you up on your offer this summer.. sounds like a good time!

  • matt - that lijadu sisters 'horizon unlimited' is the same record as 'double trouble', with a diff tracklisting. shanachie basically stole the record from them and put it out with new cover art and a different name and never paid them shit. sad.

got a copy of that black children's sledge record a couple months ago. their other record is definitely terrible, but that one is pretty dope.

Damn! I didn't know that. I was hoping to hear a different version of Orere Elejigbo. Bummer to hear Shanachie did that. Do you know the details surrounding Double Trouble's release?

that's cause you already got them all, tony.

conversation with a guy this weekend:

"so you know this guy tony who was travelling around the country in a bus? i bought some stuff from him in austin."

    "yeah"

    "he has some serious stuff."

    "definitely"

"he was living out of his van"

    "Rugged"

"they gave him a free salad cause he "looked like he had traveled far""

p.s. pistons take philly in game 5.

Top ones are all Classical. Bottom ones are Legendary Pink Dots, Glen Neaves - Bluegrass record on Folkways, that GOOD AAC, John Fahey, & Lowercase (Palm Desert group who recorded at the same studio my old band used. Met them that way, but had never seen their record on vinyl. and this copy is German?!?!)

Some are from D******5 - shout out!

What, they played a third of a season together...maybe. There was no way this was going to work for either team (Sac or Philly) for the playoffs this year. And Philly's playing the defending champs, and I think they'll repeat. It's easy to say it's about Webber, but realisticly there was no way they were winning this series.

    And my finds...

Willie Bobo - Bobo! Do That Thing

Freddie roulette - Sweet Funky Steel

Spoonie Gee & Treacherous three- New Rap Language/Love Rap

Michael Jackson - Rock with you. I'm still rockin' with mike

Audio Two - A Chistmas Rhyme

    Ray Barretto -- Senor 007

    A good day

There's one on eBay right now. Mine's a vg+, though, so not that much. It has a great cover too (which is clean and uncut-out in latex shrink).

    to complete my finds --
went to a yard sale and found all these 45s from the WEEX radio station (easton, pa radio station) -- they were all near mint, and in og sleeves-- all white label promo radio copies---there was a couple of hundred singles in the bunch and also there were around 20 or so beetles 45s (several pic sleeves) -- he had everything at 25 cents each -- i went ahead and bought the whole box for 5 bucks---

outside of that here are the nm radio copies --

the remains -- why do i cry/my babe (excellent garage rocker--this goes for some good cash. probably my favorite of the bunch too. quality single.)
the revelers -- it just can't be/don't listen to your friends 45 (garage/baroque pop -- sounding a bit like love--i can't find any info on this group-- on a small label)
the mojos -- don't do it anymore/why not tonight 45 (more garage)
drafi deutscher and his magics -- come on let's go/shake hands (german garage pop/rock on london label)
the ric-shaws -- sometimes i have to cry/heart full of rain (another small albel record-- can't find anything on. sounds northern soul-ish. male vocals)
anna king -- make up your mind/if you don't think (on smash. james brown production)
the surfaris -- dune buggy/boss barracuda
el gran combo -- i'm gonna make you love me
byron lee--danny davis -- ska dee wah/night train from jamaica
bobby gregg -- the frummer man/walk on
some acetate 45 of some raunchy black comedian from the 60s
sonny criss and his orchestra --clef records 45 ep (norman granz--pic sleeve included-- excellent shape)
there was also a lot of people label 45s -- more lyn collins, jb's, etc

and here were some thrift store finds -- 50 cents each --

kitch -- spirit of carnival lp (soca/calypso with breaks-- charlie's records)
v/a: calypos from the virgin islands -- ( a split lp release between archie thomas and his rhythm makers and j.a. richards & his orch)
antigua lord lee -- hot and sweet calypso lp (private press calypso lp. kind of funkier than the others. it is even autographed by lord lee!)
v/a: -- calypsos too hot to handle lp (monogram records.
acerina -- su majestad el danzon lp (mexican lp. orefeon label from the 50s)
