Funky Maker, Is It Because I'm Black by Senior Soul, and more Studio One comp. Dope!
Surprisingly good steel drum shiz. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy better than the cover would have you think...
This is a pub group called the Stonefire Band from a club in Ocho Rios. Looks absurd, but some great playing on here, including this:
http://thewaxcrusade.com/absent.wav
This is called "Celebrate The Individual...Daybreak" from Richmond Hills, NY. I'm thinking it is a Stage Band[/b], but if it is high schoolers, my hat's off because this shit is mind scrambling. Can't really follow the thinking behind it at all, but an amazing listen. Includes an insert with lyrics and local sponsors advertisements from the 70s. Can't say enough about this, check the clip:
http://thewaxcrusade.com/daybreak.wav
Some additional pickups this weekend:
Jiva-S/T[/b] (funkiest Krishna rock LP I've heard in a minute, funkier than Rasa or JOB Orquestra ever thought of being!)
Exuma II[/b]
Steve Kuhn-S/T[/b] apparently raer? Maybe not...
John Ruth-I Model[/b]- Coolest new wave LP I've heard in a minute, a lotta dope quirkiness this week! Check the clip:
http://thewaxcrusade.com/model.wav
Divine Sounds-What People Do For Money 12"[/b] (nice shape from '84!)
The Nonce-World Ultimate Promo CD (yay!)
Vic Boff Exercise[/b] (dope backing tracks, wish dude could shut up!)
http://thewaxcrusade.com/heyguyzipit.wav
Jon Devlin Exercise[/b] (dope again, dude needs to shut up again!)
http://thewaxcrusade.com/youzipittoo.wav
Art Lande & Rubisa Patrol-Desert Marauders[/b] (ECM LP that makes me believe again!)
Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger-London 1964-1967[/b]-UK press, some great obscure tracks on here, dude usually is on the money, respect!
And a cool Hair Exploito LP on Custom with dudes with afros on the cover. LP is "dinner plated",but still a good listen for the quirkiness. All boogaloo organ tracks, I assume some strutters have heard this no?
Peace
T.N.
Nice Catch, K.

Good covers of Steel Pulse and someone else, plus interesting originals.

also gave a list to a dealer i haven't really bought much from, mainly because the one guy i buy most of this stuff from is awesome. but this other guy said he would bring about half the stuff on my list next week, which means i'll have more stuff for marco and the_non.
Spent way too much time in may car this weekend. Found all these for under the "market value".
-Coke-Same (Sound Triangle)[/b] Spare...Latin Funk/Rock outta Miami

Other than that, picked up a grip of old jazz magazines, some indie jazz LPs from the ebay, a package from my good man in chicago with some SERIOUS goodies, and a half dozen impulse titles for 3 bucks a pop (marion brown - "sweet earth flying", some archie shepps, albert ayler).
Oh and one of those meters LP represses on charley, with a lot of rare/45-only tracks. Laugh if you want but it's nice to have.
huh - there was one of these at my local spot last week, too.. got snapped up by the guy who works there.
Someone got an extra? Been wearing out "Double Trouble" recently.
I said I got 200. That leaves at least 170 for the store. I do share the love just ask Schnipper (no homo).
K.
Dude, what the fuck is up with THIS?!
Pretty much sums it up. Was not a dollar bin record.
