    P. Crakk not in the running?

did you notice that the vast majority of rappers, DJs, hip hoppers, etc, can't hold their heads straight? Always at a certain angle. Strange.

I was gonna make this a thread during the album of the year thread(s), but I realized that TOO many of the mixtapes out there were real schitt.

in no order, just a few in rotation since I got em...

Juelz Santana - Back like Cooked Crack 3
Chamillionaire - Controversy sells (does this count?)
    Lil Wayne - LouWeezyana

Definitely not... he put some cool material out via mixtapes this year, but I did not think that either of the two tapes that he put out were that impressive as a whole.

I thought Vol. 2 was better...

Do you mean the album with Paul, or was there a mixtape with that title?

    Lil Wayne - LouWeezyana

I ain't heard of that... the two tapes I got from Weezy this year were Dedication and The Suffix.

Agreed -- I thought that the hits compensated for the misses, however.

I really liked that 8B&MJG you recommended, as well.

None of my friends enjoyed those Clipse mixtapes. Maybe I should make some new friends.

  • co-sign on WGIFC Vol. 2

  • I liked Rapid Ric's "Bun B, King of the Trill" mixtape, but I think it was download only, so maybe it doesn't count.

The problem definitely lies with your friends.

That Volume 2 is pretty much all I listen to.

Impeccable beat selection and incredible verses from Malice and Pusha.

Vicious with the verse, I???m as genius as Ray
You niggas seein??? nothing on the Zenith, like Ray
Black hand, white keys, I seen this???I???m Ray
Got more white in the hood than the KKK
The Grand Wizard of that almighty blizzard
My numbers come sizzard, I be where they breedin??? lizards
Now nigga, go figure: I ain???t been out in two
Switched jewels twice, the upgrade was more blue
Now, if you got a question, nigga, save that for Clue
But if you know the answer, then you probably copped from dude
Fluish, bluish, the hues is the newest
The sickest shit, the chain is so gratuitous
Break it, shake it, bake it, then you cools it
Treat it like them whiteys at Nike and just do it
Hot as me???fuck no, they mockeries
Flows get quoted like Socrates philosophies

His What It Dew 2 hosted by Bun B and Killa Kyleon was really good, too... although I may be playing myself since I'm not certain that it came out this year.

    2005 round march...

Yeah, Rapid Ric's joints are always hot, but I don't wanna mention that on this board as Archaic might be watching, thinking to himself "See? I told you he (RR) was the best dj that Houston's ever seen."

I am feeling this Houston mix I just DL-ed from DJ Eleven's site, no bandwagon.

These 5 mixtapes are better than pretty much any album that came out this year:

Clipse "I Got it For Cheap Vol 1"
Clipse "I Got it for Cheap Vol 2"
Juelz Santana "What the Game's Been Missing II"
    Weezy "Dedication"
    Weezy "Suffix"

Tapist--these all lack that certain so necessary conceptual arc that a great album provides us with.

That was pretty hot, but I feel like he should have gotten Jacob the Jeweler to host it or something like that.
