Been listening to this today... and I still REALLY like this album.By no means the greatest MCs, but all the songs work. Premier's on point. The realness... the realness... the real-real-real-real-real-realness...
Comments
Great tracks but Malachi straight up ruins almost every song he's on.
The Dipset police will be picking you up shortly. Or proclaiming the album a "terd."
Malachi however...
Don't be a terd--this is a very good album.
When did this come out? Links for listening? I'll cop if it's high on the dopeeosity scale...
I agree this album has the highest density of Primo bangers.
thought we weren't allowed to talk about the "golden age" in here.
And yes......
Malachi is garbage. I remember when i 1st heard the line about coming off like a battle cat.
I nearly soiled myself it was so horrible.
Still , it doesn't really knock the album off axis.
P.S
is the 1st Afu-Ra lp worth seeking out? The singles that came out prior were Bannanas, but the LP got all tangled up for like a year or so.
up against a the wall is a banger and that suspended in time is smooth
lil dap rides the beats well
but malachi his flow is horrible weak lyriks but his pauses (with screaming emphasis on the last word) make it stand out even more
word...you know what i am saying..cause these n**gas be delayin
word... when when iget bizy...straight out of new-york city
why? imagine ill lyrscists on these tracks
why is it hard for the card carrying representatives of that real schitt to understand that one can enjoy both modern/popular/good rap and the shining examples of that real schitt?
there's a striking difference in quality between livin' proof and danger doom.
i couldn't imagine someone who's a fan of hip hop music being dismissive of the production on this record.
Beatwise, it's great, but I thought since the caliber of lyrics was questionable, even at the time when it got hyped, that not standing test of time lyrically would lead to "shunning." Apparently I was wrong. The beats are super though.
PS I've been buying classics on CD cuz I used to buy tapes. I was gonna buy Daily Operation the other day for $6 on CD used. I passed and got Return to the 36 Chambers instead. I can't remember the last time I listened to my Daily Operation tape, and it comes down to Guru being kinda boring. Premier's beats need to completely take him over for me to get amped (like Hard To Earn). 2c.
this is especially cringe-worthy
you stupid mothefucka my rhyme is phat
phat as can be on the m-i-c
in the place to be if you can see
you don't know then go ask your momma
haha. you're crazy. dude is a misunderstood genius.
Guru
Jeru
Big Shug
And the Group Home jokers are merely the worst manifestation of the trend.
made my day (pure hilarity)
I discovered this album going through a Primo phase. I really wondered who the fuck that guy was. his slow delivery adds suspense every cringe worthy line
i cant imagine primo feeling his rhymes
'Phat as can be on the MIC''
please
Malachi raps like a retarded robot.
????????????????????????????
Before trains were graffiti proof I used to get loose
Dirty rotten since the days of the deuce
Dirty, because of the skin I'm in
The fact I have melanin automatically makes me a felon
Even though I'm righteous, rotten's what you're yellin
But I'm not chain-snatchin', or drug-sellin'
According to your books you said I must be damned like Ham
Scoundrel, opposite of the king that I am
But wanna get funny, we can get bummy
Take you to the East and back again money
Filthy putrified trick, step past your sister
Challenge the Damaja, and you'll be history
Mortal Kombat fatality, the original don't sing no R&B
Nasty MC deity
Chop off domes with the poems that come out of my pin-eal
gland, as I expand, you know who I am
i still crack up when i hear this...
Yo, I rock on the block with the real hip-hop
As you start to clock... and jock!
