My oldschool industry homie said it was the middle eastern intro/outro that might have been a little too strange for the top 40 during that period, though i think it just makes it all the better. Shit knocks me over every time.
SOULTOWN productions
got hooked with the MP3, I need's me a copy of this...
45 only?
(wrong cover, this is the re-ish art...)
either that or "please don't give up on me" by Syl Johnson
45 only. On Mercury. WLPromo and a FEW regular issues exist. There was a "pressing flaw" on the OG that reportedly led to a culling of the regular-issue stock. Goddamn shame.
jinks!
"The Euphrates River" Seals & Crofts

i sttill listen to both all the time, very strong records, just never blew.
It's just been reissued by Jazzman on 45 with Cyril Neville on the flip, if you don't mind reissues that is!!
I also have it on a comp called block party breaks (vol 2). I luurve this fuggin song.
two that come to immediate mind
Caprells "Close your eyes"
Poet's of rhythm "Smile while your crying"
These shoulda seen more shine
Interesting factoid: This song was recorded to commemorate the death of Marsha Bratton, 1/3 of the original Trinikas trio. The A-side "Black Is Beautiful" originally appeared on a Douglass High School LP from Oklahoma City (where the girls were from), and before the girls could get to Kansas City to record a proper studio version with Louis Chachere, Ms. Bratton passed.
Adds even more depth to an already deep song.
Snoop's "Ups and Downs"
Lil' Mo's "Dem Boyz"
I still play both at gigs and they always work. What didn't happened here?
This song kicks so much ass. The drummer is out of his fucking mind.
Your obsession with this song is starting to concern me...
