This song kicks so much ass. The drummer is out of his fucking mind.
its a cool tune, but I have refrained from buying it, because it is prolly the most played out 45 in Memphis, I know of more than three DJs that play that out all the time. At least its a good tune to wear out.

I just got it in a trade... can't wait to play it out. Shit is bonkers.
I live in a similar fantasy as Funky16Corners where the Explosions are the #1 group and Garden of Four Trees and Hip Drop are gigantic fucking hits. Vocals are a bit gritty for most to be a hit though.
I'll add Rokk - Patience as a track that should have been enourmous. Could have been too if they pressed more and did a whole album as planned.
Latyrx-Lady don't tek no I like the song but the beat/sample the signing and the club factor had all the makings of a huge hit (tv commercial music even). A video with poplockers could have put it over the top
Interesting factoid: This song was recorded to commemorate the death of Marsha Bratton, 1/3 of the original Trinikas trio. The A-side "Black Is Beautiful" originally appeared on a Douglass High School LP from Oklahoma City (where the girls were from), and before the girls could get to Kansas City to record a proper studio version with Louis Chachere, Ms. Bratton passed.
Adds even more depth to an already deep song.
That's a nice HS LP to listen to, from a pretty consistent purveyor (Century). Worth finding in those Houston digging pockets.

Century was consistent only in the sense that they consistently pressed vanity records for decades.

I meant within the "HS LP" genre. I've heard 4 or 5 nice band LPs on that label. Maybe I've only heard the good/great stuff.
I was afraid someone would call me out on my phraseology with that one.

Something tells me that beat probably will pop up in a TV commercial
I'm gonna focus on GOGO since GOGO is pretty much a DC thing and shit isn't going to blow up. National distribution isn't heard of. These joints could of been huge.

I guess that is enough. I mean the music is pretty raw I guess that is why alot of people into hiphop when they first get a listen to this stuff disregard this as a valid art form. Maybe its too hood, young.
got hooked with the MP3, I need's me a copy of this... 45 only?
45 only. On Mercury. WLPromo and a FEW regular issues exist. There was a "pressing flaw" on the OG that reportedly led to a culling of the regular-issue stock. Goddamn shame.
I believe this came up in a thread before. The red label issues on Mercury are actually styrene - possibly only the promos were vinyl? There was a guy on eBay selling one, listed as a vinyl press and the price got pretty high. On a side note, this comp:
has Hercules on it, and it's about 25 seconds longer than the 45 cut.

This song is sick. Also sort of like this: Nivea - Okay

HELL YEAH!
damn this must of been when Daniel used to go at each other. Hella long ago.
Haha... you kind've got at me.
Someone needs to ghost bump some old beef threads from three years so we can cringe.

Word. That was the first 45 that really blew my mind. The version of "Walk on By" is killer as well.
Cosine on the Trinikas as well.
I'll add The Mandells' "Now I Know" to the list of mindgarden 45 hits.
this has always sounded to me like the great lost summer car radio hit of 1970...(1969? 1971? anyone?)

I'm really glad that I spent .33?? on this one.
How about Al Gardner on Sepia? The production level simply sounds too high for it to be so rare.
