Quinteplus released 2 albums? Both have some nice Soul-Jazz on them.

Yes, 2 albums, and recently they released a live recording from 1972, CD-only.
    I could make mp3s and

    I like these guys.

Are you talking about the 80s LP press of a live performance? Or there's a CD too?

It took me a while to get their good LP. $40 but it's in not so great shape and had to be shipped from japan. Supposedly "EX" but in reality, VG.

  • 25 Bermuda - The New Bermuda Stealers "Life"

There is nothing remotely funky about this LP.

    K.

    this one confuses me

Dominica & Dominican Republic are the same unless you have time travel capabilities

9 Antigua and Barbuda - Melody's "Sing Along with Melo" has an Antiguan backing singer and bass player. It is a calypso-funk-christmas LP, with the stand out(ish) track being "Funky New Year"

38 Cameroon - Manu DiBango was born there.

190 Samoa - gonna have to go with Boo-Ya Tribe on that one I think

    205 Spain - Barrabas

241 Venezuela - possibly Manny Delgado y su Grupo.

I'll have a look for some more central american quasi-funk

Dominica is a seperate island above St Lucia and Martinique (and below Guadaloupe). Dominican and Haiti are on the same island. I've been to both places and they're not the same.

I stand corrected. Is Dominica funkier than D.R.? J Casimiro does some merengue with a hint of a funk bassline.

  • I'm looking for Filipino funk to impress my gf. I got the Please S/T, and the entire Puto Bong Bong catalog , but does anyone know of anything else?

dakilla was a funky philiphino rock band. Not straight out funk but really funky rock. I don't know if that really helps you out.

There was actually a 45 from Iran (or was it Iraq) on Ebay some time ago that was a pretty solid standard funk cover of a James Brown tune. There may have been some talk of it at fryers board, but I can't find it.

This could be the ultimate diggers guide. You could be anywhere in the world and know of at least one band to keep a look out for.

Is this really a good thing? A cheatsheet? Now herbs all over the world can become shitty ebay sellers.
