    This could be the ultimate diggers guide. You could be anywhere in the world and know of at least one band to keep a look out for.

    Is this really a good thing? A cheatsheet? Now herbs all over the world can become shitty ebay sellers.

    - spidey

    at least it might make an oppurtunity to actually SEE the records on Ebay. If these herbs would be so kind to materialize some of these records and put them on Ebay, I think most of us looking to bid on said items would be grateful.

    IMO lurkers don't need a paint by numbers to digging.

    31 Brazil - Waltel Branco, Toni Tornado, Emilio Santiago, Black Banda Rio

    . Waltel Branco - Meu balan??o: only 2 funky tracks;
    . Toni Tornado - s/t, BR3;
    . Emilio Santiago - s/t (Bananeira);
    . Banda Black Rio - Maria Fuma??a, Gafieira universal, Saci Perere (although they're more into the samba soul vein than funk);
    . Miguel de Deus - Black soul brothers;
    . Gerson King Combo - 2 albums with the same title;
    . Uni??o Black - s/t;
    . S.O.S Band it (Sons de Orlando Silveira) - s/t: 2 really good funky tracks;
    . Jo??o Donato - Quem ?? quem (Cala a boca, menino), Bad Donato;
    . Marcos Valle - Previs??o do tempo (?? mentira);
    . Azimuth - s/t, ??guia n??o come mosca.

    There are other brazilian artists/bands that made good funky music, but I'm too lazy to try to find them now.

    Peace

  • 59 Denmark - Queen Eve & the Kings

    I think this is some new funk from 2004. and I'm pretty sure "dreskie" is involved somehow.

    If we gotta represent the old stuff from Denmark then the first one that pops to my mind is "Bennys Badekar"! Otherwise there wasn't much funk in Denmark.....there was a hippie group called Splask which played a kool and the gang track but otherwise it was jazz or rock music which got funky.

    YEP: 45 released thanx to Olski! I play it a lot when the dancers want something really uptempo

  • Found a funky one this morning:

    The Tru-Tones Combo of St. Lucia

    Album called "Cream of the Crop" (Wirl) has nice covers of "Light My Fire" "Aquarius" and "Sock it to Me." Pretty sure its same band as Boo and the Tru-Tones which is another funky one.

    If I were doing this as a box, I'd probably put down Lord Rhaburn's "Disco Connection" for Belize. Biased here certainly, but that track pushes "Funky Jive" down a few levels. Too bad he never came that close again.
