Just heard the version with Carmen McRae. I think it was still Dave Brubeck.Are there any other versions out there?

    Val Bennet does a great rocksteady version called "hear come the russians" which is in 4/4

    There's another Paul Desmond version on that A&M 1975 live album that I think is great, with a cool kinda "middle eastern" vibe to it.

    I think the Soulful Strings did a version, maybe on the Paint It Black lp?

    I have a Chappell Library 10" with a track called Take 7, on it.
    It not a cover, more a tribute. Not sure if its in 4/7 time tho.

    off-topic recent Willie Mitchell story...I was in the parking lot of my girl's work waiting for her to pick up her check and I saw Lawrence Mitchell, Willie's son, get out of the car next to me, I went to high school with him and I havent seen him since High School, he waved and came over to shake hands and say whats up and as soon as he got up to my car, one of his pop's tunes(a Joe L 45) popped up on the CD I was listening to...cosmic.

    I've also heard a live version by Brubeck and Desmond... but I'm not sure where it's from. It's almost double time though, and swings a lot harder. Anyone know more info?

    No it??s an advertising album and it??s the only track that??s interesting.

    It has a pretty eye-catching cover artwork because of them using green all over the front.


    Good about that version is a long drumming solo in the middle, no real open break but great to chop up if you go for samples!



    As I have had this always in bigger quantities I sold it at 10,- EURO the least but that was at a time when noone was aware of it.

    The Sugar Minott's Sufferer's Choice album versions it on Have You Ever Found a Love Like This.

    It's one of my favorite Sugar Minott songs. Sometimes I'll listen to it just for the part 2/3 of the way through where he starts layering up the voice and harmonizing with himself.
