A lot of pleasant surprises from unsuspected angles this week, besides the Aschrock hookup. The cheesy looking 'La Bamba' by Super Funky Discotheque/S. Van Holmen was a kronerbin gamble, but turned out to be a bona fide facemelter. The 21 minute b-side funk jammy called 'Lord Funk' = . Slinky James Brownish groove with horn riffing, organ noodling and group vocals. Didn't see that coming. Turns out it's El Chicles under an alias. This weeks top find, tied with Ted Moses.

Very dope record, as featured in this fun article about digging for Dutch funk, even if you can't read Dutch it's still interesting for the sound clips (though some of y'all might already be familiar with most of these records).

Street Rondo is nice. I'd like to get my hands on Rob Franken.

Gibbs best dub LP by FAR. Don't know what the story is behind this, but something very serious was happening the days they recorded/engineered this.

Neu!-S/t(mine has a blue cover and isnt on brain, whats up?)

    possibly on Billingsgate?

Chicago based label that reissued a number of german rock and otherwise.

they also reissued the killer 1st album by the Scorpions which was dogged by those who've never heard it before on a post a couple weeks back.

thats it. was it reished in the 70's? or is it from later than that?

  • I thought there was an old time boot of these but I might be wrong.

  • aleitaleit 1,915 Posts
