My dad loved Santana and he had given me that Amigos record for my 7th birthday or something...

I'm currently listening to a lot of Rock records that I bought 20 years or so back and I'm not ashamed (well, maybe just a little bit...) to say that this is my current fave of the week:

    ahem...

    ahem...

One of my friends from high school was absolutely OBSESSED with this band.

Here is similar album from the period that I like to crank from time to time.

Ew, Badlands. The only people I ever knew who liked them were balding Guitar Center employees.

I just discovered this record and have been playing it a lot recently...

Sometimes though (and I know this might be sacrilege to some), I wish that the first three Roxy Music albums had a different singer and lyrics. I think I like them IN SPITE of Bryan Ferry.

    Yes for days and weeks.
Easily the best Dollar Bin common record ever.
How in the world did we not see this in Soulstrut Top 100?
    Dark horse?

Yea, it is hard to think of another record so particularly and cohesively devastatingly sad and beautiful and hopeful and defiant from beginning to end. I am a big fan of Chapter Two and Quiet Fire, but think her singing and playing is perfect on First Take.

It is definitely overlooked/taken for granted on account of the common factor.

Yes. Strut 100 is not over!

Yes to Chapter 2, just as good. Yes to the 2 with Donny.

My just like record for today:

Sounds more like I remember him live than any of his other records.

Country music and violins - i shouldn't like this but i do.

  • Two records that get constant play year after year.

Not reinventing the blues game, just solid. Something comforting about this record.

If I remember that is all, or mostly, Robert Johnson songs.
Supposedly RJ was his dad and he learned from him.

Robert Johnson was his stepfather. Most of the songs were written by Lockwood Jr. There are two Robert Johnson songs on there though. Now I got to add it to my queue.

My mom has been a Santana fan since her high school years and gave that one to me when I first started collecting. By the way, Carlos has himself a good woman - Cindy Blackman. Amazing drummer.

    As for me....

Listen to "Traveling Lady" with headphones and be prepared to have a roundhouse-kick-to-the-chin experience before the horns.

  • ^^oh man, nice one.

    here's mine right now...

normally don't like 'greatest hits' lps, but this has a great cover and great selection of early MG tunes.

    Hey Raj,

    Here is one:

It's a nice, laid-back soul LP that hits the sweet spot for me.
