Hey Strut,
we did some nice live recordings on the trip thru mississippi, but trying to convert the data from a sony MD to PC won??t really work. Does the strut know? love to post that stuff, the bands were really nice.

We used to run the sound into the PC and record the music in real time. Otherwise, if you can get the ATRACs onto your computer you can download MP3 conversion software from Sony. Do PCs even have firewire ports any more?

PCI FireWire cards can be had for basically nothing these days.

I would guess digital-out on the md deck -> pc soundcard digital-in is gonna be the best way to do this, but I haven't used md in years. I remember I used to do this with toslink cables though.

I must be missing something, cause I have no idea how you'd get the raw atrac files off a md into a PC, or how firewire would help with that.

    Good luck.

  • My old sony md made transferring recorded audio back to PC a pain in the ass. The md recorder could digitally transfer music from PC to md but not the other way around!

I think real time recording back into the PC is the only way.
