Dog Days Diggin'. Or is it Dog's Age Diggin'? Only been able to poke my head in a few stores the last while what with workin' up in tundra land, but there's been some great stuff around. The G I funk is awesome, I remember giving it a pass when it came out ~ 10 yrs ago because the shop only had a CD, so I was pleased to see it used.

Got 4 of these off Carfagna last month, lovin the Shaws and the Pyramids.

I like these a lot: loose but still funky. They aren't to expensive either.

i'm embarrassed to ask, but how do you post pictures? this is gonna be my first contribution to a finds thread, purely because i'm not into technology, phones and such. sorry for probably the dumbest question ever asked on soulstrut

    EDIT:

When you click the reply button above the text box are three lines, the first is Topic Title, the second is a line of code, the third is Font Formatting.

Click on < img > you will get [ img ] [ /img ]. Paste your link (which will end in .jpg and look something like this; http://0.tqn.com/d/photography/1/5/d/I/-/-/how-to-embed-photos2.jpg) between the 2 [ img ]s.

    Hope this makes it easy.

I added spaces inside the brackets for teaching purposes, they do not appear in the post otherwise.

what you been finding lately N*ah? I need to give the Dauner a couple more spins before I decide if it's a keeper: it's pretty unique. I'll keep u in mind. Unfortunately condition wise it's warped, made it cheap though : )

  • Got this today in a trade.

    thanks LaserWolf!

not strictly all from august, but after an 8 year digging hiatus, it's good to fall back into the habit. 2 or 3 are from discogs/ebay, thanks to a meagre pay rise, and a few things on the Catalyst label, which i've been into lately.

    from top left:

Lee Morgan - s/t (blue label)
Headhunters - Survival of the Fittest (Arista- minted up!)
    Ahmad Jamal - Outertimeinnerspace (Impulse)
Bobby Hutcherson & Harold Land - San Francisco (Liberty press)
Jackie McLean - Jacknife (2lp from the Blue Note reissue series)
Harold Land - A New Shade of Blue (Mainstream)
Bobby Hutcherson - Total Eclipse (blue label)
    Roy Haynes - Senyah (Mainstream)
Eddie Harris - Excursions (Atlantic dbl)

Ahmad Jamal - Oil Can Harry's (Catalyst)
Pat Britt - Jazz From San Francisco (Crestview!)
    Pat Britt - Starsong (Catalyst)
    Hadley Caliman - Projecting (Catalyst)
Gary Bartz - JuJu Man (Catalyst promo)
Flip Nunez - My Own Space & Time (Catalyst)
DJ Premier - New York Reality Check 101 (Payday 3lp)
The Colored Section - Bomb MC (2lp with instrumentals)
Frankenstein - UV (2ep with instrumentals)

looks like you put in the location for where they are on your computer. You need to upload them to a site like photobucket, then paste in the link for each photo.

    .

Nice finds! I've been looking for a vinyl copy of that Whitefield Brothers Lp for a while now - I'm holding out to find "In the Raw" in the wild and not have to resort to the Bay or similar.

Here's some of my most recent bounty:

Mary Wells - The Two Side Of (Atco, 1966)
Ike Turner - Blues Roots (United Artists, 1972)
The Whispers - Planets Of Life (Soul Clock, 1969)
Ike Turner Presents The Family Vibes - Strange Fruit (United Artists, 1972)
    Butter 08 - S/T (Grand Royal, 1996)
    Merry Clayton - S/T (Ode, 1971)
    Young-Holt Unlimited - Just A Melody (Brunswick, 1969)
Mary Wells - Two Lovers (Motown, 80's Re-issue?)
    Tom Robinson - Sector 27 (IRS, 1980)
Flesh Eaters - No Questions Asked (Upsetter Records, 1980)
Ruth White - Short Circuits (Angel, 1970)
Betty Harris - In The Saddle (Charly, 1980)
    The Clash - Sandinista! (Epic, 1980) 3Lp
The Clash - Give 'Em Enough Rope (Epic, 1978)
Ted Taylor - Taylor Made (Ronn, 1972)
The O'Jays - Super Bad (Little Star, 1971?)

Super stoked to find that O'jays album. The cover is next level!

    Pure Buckwheat Honey - S/T (Super K, 1969)
Roy Orbison - The Very Best Of (Monument, 1966)
Roy Orbison - More of Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits (Monument, 1966)
The New Style - Scuffin' Those Knees 12" (MVA, 1989)
Awesome Dre And The Hardcore Committee - AD's Revenge (Strictly Roots, 1993)
Georgie Rizzo - Only Me (GWP Records, 1971)
The Motions - Electric Baby (Philips, 1969)
King Tee - Act A Fool (Capitol, 1988)
    The Wreckin' Cru - Surgery 12" (Kru-Cut Records, 1984)
Jack Bruce - Things We Like (Polydor, 1970)
    The New Mix - S/T (United, 1968)
King Tee - At Your Own Risk (Capitol, 1990)
Redman - Dare Iz A Darkside (Rush, 1994)
Lakim Shabazz - Pure Righteousness (Tuff City, 1988)
The Egyptian Lover - King Of Ecstasy: His Greatest Hits Album (Egyptian Empire, 1989)

A handful of the rap albums came from online auction splurges... trying to minimize shipping costs and maximize intake.

    Magic - S/T (Rare Earth, 1971)
Silk - Smooth As Raw Silk (ABC, 1969)
George Duke - Guardian Of The Light (Epic, 1983)
The Impressions - Finally Got Myself Together (Curtom, 1974)
Western Flier - Hapshash And The Coloured Coat (Imperial, 1969)
David T. Walker - Going Up (Revue, 1969)
Strutt - Time Moves On (Brunswick, 1976)
Sly & The Family Stone - Fresh (Epic, 1973)
Herbie Hancock - The Prisoner (Blue Note, 1969)
    Touch - S/T (Coliseum, 1968)
Chris Spedding - Backwood Progression (Harvest, 1970) --- signed
Sparky Rucker - Cold And Lonesome On A Train (June Appal, 1977)
    Maceo - Us!! (People, 1973)
    Budgie - Squawk (Kapp, 1972)
    Budgie - S/T (Kapp, 1971)
Donald Byrd - Ethiopian Knights (Blue Note, 1972)

Of this grip I've been most impressed with the Budgie Lp's, the Sparky Rucker album, and the Touch S/T record. I had never heard either Fresh or Ethiopian Knights, and both are incredible to my ears. Sadly, I brought the George Duke home just a day or so before he passed (RIP).

This spool was a broken clothes rod nailed to a board. It was part of a collection I bought months ago but couldn't fit in my car. Nothing crazy found it it so far but it's a solid collection of soul and funk 45s.

You caught a deal on that Meters record. I paid 20.00 for my copy and 20.00 for an unplayed copy of The Pharoahs Awakening on Scarab a few years back.

Yeah, pretty happy. Doesn't happen often around here.
This spots pricing is so WTF.
The Miles was behind an Amandla for twice as much.
