Just got back from a sneak peak here in Portland, OR. The visuals were killer! I happened to like the Adele song.
Song is wack.
Cosign. Totally flat movie.
Highlight for sure.
This is a must see. An ever great action film. The opening scene, like most 007 films, is amazing.
You get taken to Turkey, Shanghai, Macau, London, and Scotland in one film. Skyfall takes you to the history
of James Bond. A new Moneypenny is delightful.
The Adele song mabye 'meh', but it goes very well with the visuals and classic intro to a Bond film.
highly recommended
Peeped last night and I could help but think of Bardem's villain as taking cues from Heath Ledger's Dark Knight Joker.
Visuals and some of the story & character beats.
Very good flick. I really dug the Scotland scene. It was a nice touch after the moder shit after a while.
I wonder if they are going to use Daniel Craig when he's starts to look "old" like Moore in Octopussy?
Or will they get a new dude before this happens?
I read a review comparing the standoff to Home Alone, haha. I still loved it. I thought the scenes in Scotland were beautiful.
YES. That was who he reminded me of. Couldn't quite place it as it involved a cross-gender leap of the imagination.
james bond pretty much OWNS the cold opening.
i disliked the entire pierce brosnan period but that shit where he inexplicably jumps off the hoover dam right at the beginning of goldeneye is the very epitome of unfuckwittable.
daniel craig is my second favorite bond behind connery and closing fast. on the merits of an ACTION movie, skyfall is one of the best i've seen in a couple years and the best bond in recent memory. on top of excellent story pacing and the further humanization of james bond himself, there were a couple scenes that will be added to the quintessential moments, ie. the shanghai fight scene with the glass and the lights.
I recall Her Majesty's Secret Service w/ George Lazenby, going there w/ his newlywed's death.
Then the Moore and Brosnan movies (which I thoroughly enjoy) turned Bond into a caricature of himself. I really enjoy the story arc of the Daniel Craig movies where they have actually shown more of Bond himself.
i prefer her majersty's swarthy iron fist in a velvet glove to uncle sams cro-magnon robot killer.
This whole Sean Connery and Daniel Craig disregard everyone else is bullshit IMO.
That bank scene was kinda' nuts if you ask me. Yall right though, never thought is was jackin' from Dark Knight but your right. In a good way.
The Komodo dragon scene was super lame, but kind of a nod to oldschool Bond films (maybe?) with his cheesy one-liner. Didn't like it.
Didn't hate the Adele track. It sort of set the mood for the film and fits well tbh.
Scotland scene was kind of lame as well (the shootouts), but as Batmon mentioned, it was cool to see the expansive highlands after the bright lights and modernity of the Asia scenes.
Can see one more Daniel Craig as Bond, but after that, would be nice to see it taken in a different direction, with a new Bond (younger, more athletic? maybe a non-white Bond) and a new "feel".
I was entertained, but I doubt it will be a classic in the Bond canon.
is Tom Hardy already too established for the Bond role?
Chiwetal Ejiofor?
Good call on both counts! I'd be down for either one.
