so today i picked up my copy (finally) of Hubert Laws "In the Beginning"..you know, this one... thing about it is, it is sealed. the same store also had an opened copy. the open copy was glossier and had the numbers under the CTI logo on front and back just like this picture. the one i picked up didn't, it just had the logo. it also has some old stickers on the back (you know, the eighties looking hot orange sticker with the big ass $2.99 on it) and ring wear on the jacket. my gut told me this one was the original, but i want to hear it from yall...so what it is?does the OG have the numbers or not?gabe

I was wondering who was gonna come out and say it.

Relly man, I don't think it really matters too much as most CTI's aren't considered rare.

What's the stamper number on the first pressing of Deodato 2?

Can you still send a SASE to CTI for cover art photos?

I know, I just couldn't resist. But you could fit all the sick CTI tracks on one LP, and there's how many at like $1 a piece at every thrift store on the East Coast! Hubert needed a bit more variety to his CTI sides, IMO.

Now if ya start knocking the Milt Jackson or Freddie Hubbard CTI sides we got problems!

With all my worldly travels, I wanted a CTI suitcase, but all I got was this crappy KUDU kerchief on a stick...

RS-505-509 - Introduction to Rare Earth Records - Various Artists [6/69] This is a promotional 5 record boxed set which contains the first 5 releases on Rare Earth. The cover of the boxed set has a picture of the Rare Earth label with "A VERY HEAVY NEW LABEL" on it. Each of the five records in the set have promotional white labels, and all have the round die cut cover.

    Why?

Most of their output succeeds neither as jazz nor as funk.

    I will ride for CTI.

But I don't really listen to those records too much these days....at all really.

But that was a foundation for me and many other people in this here 'diggin' game', mang.

You need to loosen that collar, Poptart.
