T.I. & Bun B & Three 6 Mafia & Freeway & BG & Kanye West & Grit Boys help I guess
Paul Wall's album is really good. I really like everything but Got Plex & Girl (I agree that Chi Lites sample is corny). As a whole it is much more varied than either Mike Jones or Slim Thug's albums. I'm not one of those dudes who thinks he is THE BEST THING SINCED SLICED BREAD but he has a sick flow, he picks good beats and is really consistent.
I want to hear that Keak the Sneak and DJ Quick too. Back to the store!
Is it me, or is all the heat on Paul's album clustered up front, and then the rest is just one long snooze?
yep..that's why when i started listening to it i thought.."what are these folls talking about? this shit is pretty decent " ..but the more it played the more it took a nose dive....and 'heat' is a tiny exaggeration....
and that Quik is good but not great better than the last one but not on the level of his first four releases
that"hot up front" scenario is pretty popular these days. I mean record companies know people have the attention span of a rat so they put all the hot shit up front and fill out the back w/ the rest. Faux, which are your favorite tracks on the Slim Thug record. That whole thing just struck me as pretty boring. Nothing on there was as hot as "Still Tippin". That's why I say it was underwhelming. "Like a Boss" was cool, same for "I aint heard..." and that real screrwed sounding track # 5 maybe. "Boys in Blue" but really the 2nd half seemed weak to me.
I never heard of that song. this is the tracklisting that I know of
01) Doctor's Office 02) Intro For Roger 03) Fandango (Feat. B-Real) 04) Til' Jesus Comes 05) Black Mercedes (Feat. Nate Dogg) 06) Get Up (Feat. The Game) 07) Get Down (Feat. Chingy) 08) Ladies And Thugs (Feat. Wyclef Jean) 09) Catch 22 10) Indiscretions In The Back Of The Limo (Feat. T.I.) 11) Spur Of The Moment (Feat. Ludacris) 12) Quikstrumental (Feat. Jodeci) 13) Jet Set 14) California (Feat. AMG)

C'mon, man. Thugga's album is really good--not really a Houston album--but good nonetheless.
Is it me, or is all the heat on Paul's album clustered up front, and then the rest is just one long snooze?
i can agree with that. i think after "trill" it starts to lose my attention. i almost prefer it that way, because i can just listen to the first half of the record, where the thugga record resulted in a lot of skipping around. "girl" is the only awful must skip cut on the whole paul wall record. and maybe "internet goin' nuts", but my problem's with the concept rather than the execution. it's a pretty good song if you don't pay attention to what he's talking about.
really all are disappointments on some level, but i'd say so far paul's the least disappointing of the three. it probably sounds the most like what, two years ago, i would have envisioned the major label debut of either of the three would sound like. it's as close to an uncompromisingly houston record that you'll see on a major, i think.
i also think it's just a reality that none of these dudes will ever be album oriented artists (what rapper is?) and we should be happy as long as we keep getting "diamonds" and "sittin sideways" caliber singles.
maybe cham can do it though? that single with flip isn't hitting that's for sure.

That song holds a ghastly fascination for me--it's terrible, and yet I can't stop listening to it.
This right here - I got it for free last night at the RE:UP party and don't know if it was released or not - is the TRUTH.

The one I got is an unmixed double CD (I'm guessing promo only) and it is crazy Shits is going right into Serato.
Paul Wall has a couple songs I like. The beat on the Freeway song is I think the same dude Sanchez? that did TI "asap" did it. He's got that slappery. Some of the songs are so wack I kind of like em in a Willie D kinda way. Shit like "Internet Goin Nuts".
Little Brother is pretty good. Nothing on it is phenomenal but its a good record to listen to front to back. The skits are hella funny too.
The Quik has some interesting shit on it production wise. He uses some string sections that sound dope on a couple of the songs. I prefer him rappin more laid back than some of his aggresive flows on the record. I wouldn't compare this record to his earlier stuff because of the lack of samples. Its more on the vibe of "Rhythmalism" but really not fucking with it.
