Twitching in the cactus
hospital gown, a loon
on hairpin wings,
she tells me how
her episiotomy
is perfectly sewn
and doesn't hurt
while she sits in a pile
of blood
which once cleaned
the placenta
my third son should be in.
She tells me how early
he is, and how strong,
like his father,
and long, like a black-
stemmed Easter rose
in a white hand.
Just under five pounds
you lie there, a collapsed
balloon doll, burst in your
fifteenth hour, with the face
of your black father,
his fingers, his toes,
and eight voodoo
adrenalin holes in
your pinwheeled hair-lined
chest; you witness
your parents sign the autopsy
and disposal papers
shrunken to duplicate
in black ink
on white paper
like the country
you were born in,
unreal, asleep,
silent, almost alive.
This is a dedication
to our memory
of three sons--
two dead, one alive--
a reminder of a letter
to DuBois
from a student
at Cornell--on behalf
of his whole history class.
The class is confronted
with a question,
and no one--
not even the professor--
is sure of the answer:
"Will you please tell us
whether or not it is true
that negroes
are not able to cry?"
America needs a killing.
America needs a killing.
Survivors will be human.
That site is run by progressives who don't appreciate the fact that Al Gore is a fat libhomonazicommie. So those facts can't possibly be true. I heard it on the radio a few days before President Romney was elected.
Most of these so-called "deniers" probably suffer from Gluten intolerance.
Are you saying celiac disease is fake?
No...celiac disease is very real and affects less than 1% of our population.
Oh, good, so it's okay to make fun of them.
And those fibromyalgia whiners, too.
There is quite a difference between the 1% of people who actually have celiac disease and the 15% to 50% of the people who doctors and researchers have claimed suffer from gluten sensitivity/intolerance. As a matter of fact the most recent research has shown those latter findings to be bullshit. The doctor who "began" the non-gluten craze, which has grown into a billion dollar business, has totally reversed his stance on it. Some people might say "So what, a gluten free diet is better for you anyway" except now researchers are saying that's not true either.
I would never make fun of someone with a disease. I do however have no problem making fun of people who buy in to bullshit just because it is being served by people they feel are inscrutable.
BTW, having witnessed some of your insults and derogatory remarks I find it laughable that you would feel I was "making fun" of someone and have the balls to call me out on it.

I wasn't calling you out. I agree with what you're saying about gluten. I just thought it was funny that paddlewhacks jumped from "gluten intolerance" to actual "celiac disease."
For future reference you can tell when I'm calling someone out because I'm just a tad more acerbic when I'm doing it.
Schitt is bleak. Open political corruption is now the norm. Our first and better option is to organize the states to amend the constitution to get rid of corporate personhood and get money out of politics. The second option is eventual descent into widespread civil unrest and war. It's all coming to a head, like the Arab spring, just on a different time scale. We no longer have any excuses to be complacent. Money won't save you, only not being corrupt will.

This seems like an apt time to say money talks, bullshit walks...

I also know people who avoid a wide variety of other foods.
I know 2 people with celiac. It's no joke.
1% of Americans is about 3+ million people.
Not taking any sides here, just pointing out.
I enjoy wheat, fat, pork, and sugar, but avoid gmos.
It is going to get worse (gluten and indigestion related) is a different thread.
