I just heard this song by traditional Ryukyu folk singer Ikue Asazaki. I find the vocal style and melodies incredibly beautiful and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for similar stuff?
This was used in the anime series Samurai Champloo, which is how I just heard it. I'm probably going to look for her album that the song comes from. But I would love some more traditional Japanese music like this! Really beautiful stuff. So much emotion in the vocal performance.
