Karlophone--unbelievable haul! That's like more records than I've picked up in the last two years. Devoglam--also very impressive stuff. I haven't posted in a finds thread in a few months--I missed a bunch of flea markets due to traveling--but I'll share some highlights from the summer. LPs first...
Mostly flea market finds here, with the Pete Terrace being among the very best things I've ever snagged for $1. Just picked up the Tommy James LP at this Sunday's market...never seen it in the field so thought I'd give it a shot for a few bucks. Lots of R&B covers, but the biggest surprise? Their cover of "Cleo's Mood" is total heat, better than the Jr. Walker version IMO...
Chi-Lites & Earl Gaines I shelled out for at Dusty Groove back in May but both are awesome LPs. The Artistics I found at Good Records NYC, speaking of which I owe major props to Jonny for recently turning me on to the Lovelites LP. No idea how that flew under my radar the last few years (although I think I'd heard of "Patti & The Lovelites") but I feel very lucky to have picked up a copy.
Top 4 got in trade, Larry Davis (fantastic blues 2-sider) and Ron & Candy I picked up at the legendary Rooky Ricardo's in SF. Gene Faith (incredibly good both sides) and Intruders were cheapo snags from eBay, and the rest were flea market finds. Had an interesting digging "moment" there a few weeks ago when I came across a guy with 45s I had never seen before. I started looking through his stuff, and the quality is clearly above average. When I ask him how much he says, $5 each, to which I respond, whoa, that's a little steep for the flea market, eh? But based on the quality I look through the whole pile and pick out The Seeds "Pushin' Too Hard," and say, I'll take the plunge for this one. When he sees my choice he says, whoa, excellent pick, for that you get to pick one more 45 for free! I picked the Larks, thinking it might be the same group that's on the Money label, then had a head-slapping moment when I played it and immediately recognized it from Impalaville.
i havent had a chance to get organized and post for about 2 months or more, so this is the highlights of my summer digging basically.
where you see some $1K+ psych records and weird acid archives type stuff a ways down, many of them (but not all) are weird 80's import/reissue/bootlegs (in and of themselves not easy to locate). but some are the real deal too. [spot the 'OG' Rockadelics!]. I had a very fruitful run in with a dedicated private press / obscure prog / hard psych collector who was selling off his goodies for reasonable $.
the rest is the usual mishmosh, but youll see many soul/disco gems, they are all from one ex(deceased) 70's radio DJ's collection
I was at EM yesterday.
In the olden days everything was priced $2.10-4.20.
I was bemoaning the fact that now their prices are higher than mine.
Then I found this* for under $3.00:
Out of tune childrens choir with a free jazz group and electronics and a real vocalist.
Listening now.
*Not my image, my cover is VG.
Funny: the only real "find" (i.e. not from eBay or a more speciality store) was this very same record, on the L.A. eastside, about three weeks ago. Groove Merchant has it now
Alas, I did not get it for $3. Owner knew the deal, sort of, charged me $50 but it was a 50% off sale so I walked out with it for $25.
Of course, literally two minutes later, some asshole side-swiped my rear-view mirror off my parked car and that just cost me about $95 to fix. In the end, I made about $75 on the Edith Hill but still come out $20 short on the overall trip, ha!
dianne brooks has a stellar version of "season of the witch".. the doug riley has a nice jazzy version of "in my life"... cc and compnay has breaks, yo!
the alan silva record is great. fans of lonnie liston smith or michael white spirtual stuff would like this
all these are doubles, holleur at me on the pm..

Picked up the following 45's at the fair on Saturday. Picked relatively randomly based upon label, producer, band name or some other whim. Not had a proper chance to listen to them yet:
Michael Longo - 900 Shares of the Blues - Seen this LP plenty of times but never listened to it before. Not sure why, it's great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8EWz1BDC_8
Ian Carr & Nucleus - Labyrinth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnej1IqkC4w
Don Lusher - From Lusher with Love - One 0f those weird record karma moments. I'd listened to clips of this record on the Recordmania site just the night before and nearly pulled the trigger on it. Walked in to Flashback and there it is sitting on the counter!
Brown Brothers of Soul - Cholo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU5KFFDfrr4
Last stop of the day was MVE in Berwick Street where this beauty was found in the Bargain Jazz section for the sum of ??2. When I took it to the counter the soul jazz buyer looked a little peeved with me. He clearly had not priced this LP!

Bobby Hughes Experience - Fusa Riot - Never heard of these guys before. Whole LP is a great listen!
Glad to see you stumbled onto this LP. I was really into electronica/loungey stuff like Thievery Corp. like 10-12 years ago and found the BHE through some compilation back then. Was lucky enough to snag this album on vinyl in London back when it was new-ish ('01 I think)...it's very hard to find in any format now. Anyway, they're from Sweden and have done another album (Nhu Golden Era) and the Kinney & Horne album but Fusa Riot is the one you want. Incredible album throughout!
No time for any heavy digging, But I did manage to pull these today:
Lyn Collins - Think a clean white label promo VG++/Ex for 5.00
Fresh Air - Same on Amaret for 15.00 M- also a white label promo. Nice rock record worth picking up if you see it for cheap.
Looks like everyone has found some great stuff again this week.
I went to a local shop of mine yesterday and picked up some great bits:
From the cheap bins:
Howard Blake - Hammond in Percussion - I always pick up cheap copies of this VV classic when I see it. Contains the groovy hammond track the shark. Anyone know if this was the same guy behind An Elephant Called Slowly soundtrack? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJDmotygweo
Michael Longo - Jazz 48 - Think this is the same LP I bought last week (900 Shares of the Blues), just a different issue. Different track to the one I posted last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ27D2i8yKg
The Hollies - Evoluction - Picked up Butterfly last week and now found the other Hollies LP that gets mentioned on here quite often. Psych!
Don Burrows Quartet - The Jazz Sound - Fantastic LP featuring the cream of OZ jazz players.
The 13th Floor Elevators - Easter Everywhere & Live - Amazing psych garage rock LP's.
45's:
Laurie Johnson - The New Avengers / The Professionals - I've had the LP of this plenty of times but not seen the 45 before.
Steve Grey - Return of the Saint - More 70's TV soundtrack goodness in the shape of the B side "Funko"
Johnny Johnston Orchestra - Mood Cool - Never seen this advertising 45 before for Consulate cigarettes. Two great sides of groovy hammond funk. Is this well known? A bit of googling shows a couple for sale online. The guys at 45cat seem to know it!
Went to a local store yesterday and the Croydon fair today.
Lots of cheap spares and plenty of VV favs to be found:
Betty Wright - I Love the Way you Love - Picked up a copy of this a few weeks ago in Bushey at some shop down there. Great funk femme vocals! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOTOnFKKx7M
Kay Webb - Super Stereo - German ez LP. Not listened to this yet. Expectations are low! Just found this on Youtube, expectations elevated a notch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGQWWPCTWUo
Crimson Bridge - ST - One of my favourite titles on Myrhh. Funky jazz rock. Not the best track but the only clip I could find on Youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeOsw22QBHg
Beginning of the End - Funky Nassau - Another one that has fallen into my lap a few times over the last year. Such a good LP. Now to find the 2nd LP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMSiFty1RUY

and turned it into this from Chris:
Mid-late '60s Hungarian prog-soul single that, at times, sounds a helluva lot like the "Kashmere" theme.
thats a massive haul Noah!

happy to report that, yes, there are records in poland... i think i was pretty restrained, all things considered.
