It is as corny as as dubuque,ia. I thought the whole thing was like throwback revel in the mellow medium sodium induced flavor canned lining bpa free. And on that level I really enjoyed it.
Saying that hard and cutting edge have no meaning. It's either good or not good and these tracks/vids are big for their time and place.

So I am quite to hip hop now but what i have noticed on this board is the bashing of the 90's hip hop approach. If memory serves me correctly the 90's offered some great hip hop and should not be pooped on so. While I do understand that it is no longer the 90's and hip hop has changed (I don't think I would say progressed) I still don't understand the vitriol that folks have on this board with the 90's hip hop style and mention of the four elements.
I have an inkling its a right of passage for "melaninly" challenged individuals to show how down they currently are with hip hop, am I lying?

To me, it's about making something original opposed to a carbon copy fabriction of something already done. I typically love foreign rap that brings its own language/culture to the table. But I really can't tolerate foreign rap, or non-foreign rap for that matter, that is straight color by numbers out of some lame hip-hop textbook.
Being from Denmark myself, I am down with this shit. I see why it might not be special or overly exciting to someone outside Denmark, but on the other hand, for someone to rate this as being stripped of any good elements doesn???t make sense to me. At least, it???s certainly a decent beat, but it???s also more than that to me. It totally reflects what I was into when I was younger. My taste has changed a lot, and I look for something else in a rap song today, but I still enjoy hearing this in 2011.
i get if a euro dude with talent wants to show that he and his peeps were into Hip Hop and its peripheral concepts but i think the presentation seems like cats were aping styles in 94 that were already well explored by then.

I don???t disagree with what you are saying, but I probably interpret his post differently. I just see a member sharing what he did back in the day. I don???t think that his intention is to come across as some groundbreaking pioneer or trying to equate his stuff with any of the ???architects???. At least, that???s not how I see it. However, even though it does not compare to a lot of US stuff, it can still be cool for some people to hear.
with lenny kravitz or euro rap or some dudes in a high school band copying some james brown shit as close as they could it all comes down to people making music and hopefully having fun. unless they had soulstrut sociological historians in their midst to give them the lowdown on the significance and context of their sound, its probably fine for them to just make some music. if they ignored the knowledge shared by the aforementioned keepers of tastefulness and quality, then, of course, they should get blasted unmercifully on the internets and shunned by women and record collectors both.
I truthfully agree with all opinions shared in this thread, and yes, this thread has potential. I have to add that - while Euroman HipHop interpretations at any times are/were always just a "reflection" of at that time more or less current US rap styles - at least the Scandinavian (and to a certain point the Dutch) versions always have the best English verses. Blame it on television not being fully dubbed just like over here in Germany.
Now the other story is the packaging of the 4 elements. That's why a lot of US Mc's from a certain era can still make a living over here (which can be turned into a whole other thread), because that's what we grew up upon and - to quote numerous "True School Mc's" from the US - due to the fact that many Euroman Rap fans still show alot of appreciation for "the culture". Do I still worship the whole "elements" theory as I did back then? Probably not. But then again, Eurotechno and UK Bass music of all forms always had the same impact on my musical socialisation even back in the 90's.
For what it's worth, I can enjoy Upskiboo's videos on a certain level, but only on a level that I have always enjoyed Euro HipHop on - always knowing that it is just an abbreviation of US styles. Now in 2011, that has somewhat changed, as alot of European countries have turned this "abbreviation" into something locally revelant. Good or bad? Probably both. And I do think that Upskiboo did not poast this video to show off in a HipHop way, but just to let all of us know what he was up on back then.
But even back in the 90's there were always cats like a guy called Couzin Steve from the Netherlands that came really close at triggering the same emotions that I got from US rappers at that time.
I'm still confused about all this, but really appreciate what this place can teach me about the different perceptions people have worldwide. After all, we somehow still seem to care about this thing called HipHop that brought many of us here in the 1st place. Add on with your subjective perspective. I'm down with all this....
