Wall-E and Idiocracy deserve nods for more comical (yet still poignant) takes on the PA genre.

"24 Weeks" was decent for what it is was too. Got a bit gummed up towards the end however.

The Japanese are always bringing out these low budget zombie movies, more often than not, with a scantily clad heroine slayer.

They mostly seem to be pretty dire, but I'm kinda interested in their recent delving into 3d.

  • here's one you should be familiar with, being from new zealand and all...

Some other obvious ones like "Escape From New York", "The Omega Man", "Twelve Monkeys"...

I'm not sure if this qualifies but it has a post apocalyptic feel. One of my all time faves!!

  • I saw the Akira poster and I immediately thought of this.

    Im down with Dystopian.

Logans run: i grew up on the series, great shit.

Near Dark is a classic, the bar massacre scene is gold.

Saw daywalkers recently, the premise was better than the execution, it had a Blade=like feel to it. I forced myselfd to endure Stephen Dorff/Umas ex (totally exchangable, cant tell them apart, both a rubbish as each other), Sam Neill (another Kiwi) put on an OK performance. Worth checking out if you like vampire flicks.

30 days of night (shot in NZ BTW) was another ok one, the vampires were great but that whiney weasel-faced wannabe tough=guy in the lead role was poos.

Sam Neill related: Event Horizon. Loved it.

went to see it for the second time in the theater just to listen to the amazing sound effects. creepy movie, i dug.

The original 24 Days later was better than the follow up 24 Weeks.

Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic and really really good:

This was filmed in Auckland, NZ.

A friend of mine was Kiefer Sutherland's PA for the duration of the shoot. Her job boiled down to scheduling a constant carousel of young nubile hookers and organising security for KS whilst he tore the city apart on an epic bender.

I need to see this film.
