Now THAT ..................................................... That shit was like Double Dee & Steinski meets Spielberg. The whole thing was the bomb, all the changes were the bomb, but I especially got when that beat got chopped up.

Other good examples of vids that are very literally narrative on whats going on with the samples and sequences are:

Start The Commotion [/b]by the Wiseguys[/b]

    Timber [/b]by Coldcut.[/b]

  • Very Josh, no?

yes, very. Strong reminisence of the "Midnight In a Perfect World" video that B+ did....

This brought a tear of joy to my eye....

and how come my Safari isn't showing the new graemlins??

  • Other good examples of vids that are very literally narrative on whats going on with the samples and sequences are:

josh's "midnight in a perfect world" used this same concept - matching up performance video to go with the music and cutting it up the same way the samples were cut. but this thing just took it to a whole far off level.

bsides - what didn't you like about it?

brian - thanks for the upload!

Pretty much every video I've ever seen by Coldcut is like this, the first one I remember being blown away by was "More Beats & Pieces". "Natural Rhythm" was very cool too, it had all these carnivorous plants snapping and blooming in time with the beat. What was cool about these is that it looked like the songs were created from the original video clips, as opposed to the video just being edited to fit with the music.

Know what'd be ridiculous?.. If somebody did one of these with porn clips

Man I couldn't stop telling people about that when it came out. But there is no way to put it into words. it's just like I'm going to tell everyone about this and their going to say until they see it.

Wow that was pretty fucking rad.

It did kinda run a little long, but the changeups were all nice.

The bass sound was killing me though...

After reading the thread I expected more.

I mean it was cool... but not 'lets fly of the handle' type-cool.

Has anyone here seen Coldcut live? They mix video clips with their audio: they created software where they loop and mix audio/video clips in with their set. This was like in 2000 when I saw them doing this. They took a loop from the jungle book where the king orangutan was doing his little be-bop scat and incorporated that into the track they were playing, footage of nukes going off, all kinds of stuff. it was like: "whoa"
