Yes, causality dictates there is an effect due to a cause**, so what's the point?
And it's a little too close to saying "it's God's will" for my liking...
**unless they are saying that the effect is retroactive and the cause, which is yet to come, is predetermined. So why take responsibilty for anything?
I usually just punch them square in the face and say "I GUESS YOU HAD THAT COMING, THEN."
Kind of goes along the lines of "crisis = opportunity"
And yet, this saying doesn't infuriate me nearly as much as "it is what it is". I hear people say that shit like it's some deep philosophical exposition on the current state of the universe. save it.
always liked that one for some reason
everything is everything
This one doesn't bug me either. I blame Sadat X.
this is a brilliant idea

Take a rock, for example. A rock is neither good nor bad, it just is.
I wish I had a better example, but whatever.
Oh I love this one... great way to get out of a conversation/argument you'd rather not have.
"It is what it is" =>
I used this this past weekend with my future father in law...
"reason" is one of the most overrated factors in life and I can't understand how people would want to waste time, energy and thought in finding, explaining or following it.
I have the habit of disregarding reason and sometimes even abandon it at the side of the road like a diseased pet. Although I would never do that to a pet since -as you all know -I sincerely love my dogs.
I am glad to not hear it anymore.
NO SHIT. It is well because it ended well.
I like "I have a habit of disregarding reason and sometimes even hide its Facebook status updates like a friend that isn't really a good friend but for some reason is my friend on Facebook."
My dad used to be infuriated by people who responded to the question "How are you?" with "I'm blessed"
Once I witnessed an opposing attorney say this to a judge by way of explaining why her view of the case differed from mine.
Infuriating.
Yes, more plaese on how you got to be the way you are now.
you crack me up sometimes.
