Hey,I was just listening to "Alvina" by John Handy (the source of Diamond's "F*ck What You Heard"; I named this one because it's in the CDs liner notes), and thought to myself, "this is a nice song." It got me to wondering about what songs would 'Strutters report as their top-10 (favorite) original songs sampled for hip-hop classic joints (not some obscure joint that two people know about). The criteria for selection should be the quality of the entire original song and not just the sampled part that you like, and you can refer the source of breaks, loops, chops, etc. Also, try not to snitch on anyone who didn't clear the joint if you can help it. Here are my top-five (in no particular order):1. "Uzuri"-Catalyst.2. "Born to be Blue"-Jack Bruce.3. "Mango Meat"-Mandrill.4. "Together"-Cannonball Adderley Quintet.5. "Playing Your Game, Baby"-Barry White.6. "Easin' In"-Edwin Starr ("Hell Up in Harlem" OST).7. "Hung Up on My Baby"-Isaac Hayes ("Tough Guys" OST).8. "Heather"-Billy Cobham.9. "Kool is Back"-Funk, Inc.10. "Seed of Love"-Little Boy Blues. These are only a smidgen of the million other songs I could've named. Please add on.Peace,Big Stacks from Kakalak

Yo,
"Jungle Brothers, JBs for short
A biter bit my rhyme and we almost fought, but
If I fought a brother I thought that would be wrong, so
I let him go I let him run along (run along)
I write rhymes like I come from New York City
My DJ mix the music down to the nitty gritty
Run to Downstairs searchin' five days a week
Searchin' and seekin' for the Baby Bam beat
The African rap that comes from within us
Brothers heard about us now they wish they could've been us
We did an album, with no problem
Now we're workin' on another with another Jungle Brother
Me, Q-Tip, his name
He's into business, not into games
So Q-Tip when the light turns green
Grap your bone and show 'em what I mean."
Speaking of that, let me add on "Smokin' Cheeba Cheeba" by the Harlem Underground Band.
Peace,
Big Stacks from Kakalak
