Damn you for bringing this up, Jack White gave me a copy of the "Lafayette Blues" 45 in 98 or 99 when they toured New Zealand. I left it on the dashboard of the car in the sun the next day. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!
Sorry about that but paying US$4485 (highest popsike price) for a white stripes 7" is madness. The guy had a spiel for his listing you could have matched
This is it, a truly rare and vital piece of White Stripes history, the first pressing of Lafayette Blues/Sugar Never Tasted So Good on white vinyl (with some traces of red in it). That's not all, as this is one of 40 copies that Jack personally gave to family and friends. It contains a 1944 French bank note, a picture of Lafayette and Washington shaking hands, and a quote from Marquis de Chastellux. I've held on to this for ten years and I'm well and truly touched that Jack gave me one, but baby needs a new pair of shoes. It's time to let it go.

Yeah, but notice that it usually doesn't go for much anymore since the reissue.
Thats an important thing to keep in mind w/this trendy stuff: when the labels think something has become popular enough that they need to repress it, those popsike prices often become a thing of the past.

same with the Whitefield Brothers 2LP repress i think...
(damn! Stones Throw is f*cking up the prices! they even put all the rare single tracks on the Whitefield Brothers one! )
It makes sense that alot of post 1988 releases are going to be in demand. The record industry totally turned their back on vinyl around then to try and cash in on CD's so pressing runs of LP's and 12"s were pretty small. Now that there's an upsurge in people buying vinyl a lot of people are trying to fill in their back catalogs and there just aren't that many copies of a lot this stuff out there.

Yes,someone made mention of that before. Labels like MoWax did press up stuff very intentionally with small runs, too. Boutiquey pressings...is that a word?
Anybody got a good online resource for pricing 90s-00s Funk 45's? Still have a bunch of Desco/SoulFire 45s that im curious about and i dont see them come up too often on Ebay.
The two in demand desco 45's are Naomi Davis "41st st breakdown" and Joseph Henry "Who's The King".
I did good on Sharon Jones' "Damn It's Hot" a couple of years ago.

and I can see why people pay for it now, it wasn't on the shelf for very long when it came out
I like UNKLE's first album but I would never pay that kind of money for it!
