modern records worth $$$?

Going through my collection trying to see what things are worth purging. I notice quite a batch of contemporary records being worth silly $ on popsike. Can you think of any examples like brazing downtempo (I know lemonjelly and boards of canada are worth mega loot), new funk, reish/compilations (strut, soundway, bbe), etc....http://www.popsike.com/THE-WHITEFIELD-BROTHERS-OOP-Funk-Soul-LP-SOUL-FIRE/120221769920.htmlhttp://www.popsike.com/GERALDO-PINO-Lets-have-a-party-AFRO-FUNK-Listen/380068361215.htmlhttp://www.popsike.com/MOODYMAN-SHADES-OF-JAE-SUPER-RARE-12/4073153326.htmlhttp://www.popsike.com/ZERO-7-SIMPLE-THINGS-RARE-DBL-LP-MINTSEALED/160211961688.htmlhttp://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=thievery+corporation&thumbs=&x=0&y=0http://www.popsike.com/NIGERIA-70-Afro-Beat-Afro-Strut-UK-3-LP-Rare-Comp-M/290183569964.html

because they had limited runs........I wasn't really a fan though of their music.
I fux w/ Zero 7 and BOC was hit or miss.
Lemonjelly especially, everything they pressed was advertised w/ a #'ed print run.

sold my zero 7 and all that downtempo shit. kept all of my boards though. thievery corporation did really well when i sold them.
still kicking myself for passing up on this for $6 at amoeba a few years ago. all of that indie rock shit goes for $$$ these days, but you do have to consider the original cost of the record for all of these modern releases. a record that was bought in the 70's for a buck is a lot different than one bought a few years ago for $20 assuming they both sell for $100 now.
A lot of times it was, since it was put out by small indie labels. Especially the titles released before the label hooked up a big distribution deal or something like that, since the label was paying for the pressings up front. Small runs and represses if there was enough demand. For example, Quantic is big time now, but if you sold vinyl of his first album on Tru Thoughts, I'm sure that would get mad loot. It was one of TT's first full-lengths, IIRC, and it's been out of print for years.
In many cases, as folks here have mentioned, it's the big box sets and "limited-edition" joints that are big money now.
At the record store I worked at, we copped a handful of that Aphex Twin leather-bound box set thing from like 8 years back. It was a warehouse find from some distributor. We didn't even bother putting them in the store. Straight to the Bay for mad loot. Bought for $30 or $50 but flipped 'em for like $150 or $200.
I could have copped that Zero 7 album when it came out. For cheap too, since I worked at a distributor. I wasn't that into the music at the time, though.
WTF?!?! I'm sorry I passed on grabbing that the 100 times I saw it.
The Memphix stuff was going for loot for a while.

Modern psych and noise records can be your ticket to that status.
I actually copped some limited edition comp thing they put out in 2005 or so with the intention to hold and flip. I need to check on that one. I've still got it.
0ne has DJ Spinna Remix and is labelled 1 of 2000.
The other 12" has a Madlib/YNQ remix w/ no pressing #
Now is the peak time to sell this stuff IMO. The stuff will bottom back to more realistic levels. Best comparison would be MoWax prices now compared to 7-8 yrs ago.
The Rebtuz boots quantic put out are worth loot, especially vol. 1. Personally, I think the 1st Quantic album is very meh, he didn't come into his own until his second joint (Apricot Morning).
yeah that what i meant.
I cant let go of these joints, even if i have them in CD form as well.
That first Quantic is fantastic, but whatever, I liked that period of the breaks.
As far as The Kruder and Dorfmeister LP goes, great album but hard to believe what people are payin for it. I have a bunch of stuff on G-stone... some twelves, etc... anyone know if this stuff is worth anything these days?
A lot of that noise stuff is terrible or at least very boring. How much does it cost to press 100 records in Japan? I could record my KitchenAid mixer through a big muff, silk screen some arty pron and put them bitches in a box for 5 years and triple my money.
I accidentally bought that Soul Fire records for $3 once thinking it was private 70s funk. Yeah, that disconnected. I got mad when I found out it was Finish dudes from 2003 or some shit and traded it. But who's cryin now?

hmmm i bought this for $20 bucks, still have it sealed...
Still have a bunch of Desco/SoulFire 45s that im curious about and i dont see them come up too often on Ebay.
Also, as far as 'recent" vinyl , ive flipped quite a few White Stripes vinyl peices (both 45s and lps) for some good $.
And I recall a few major label late 90's lps (smashing pumpkins Melon Collie in particuliar, as well as Tool stuff) being worth a quite a bit these days.
this is good news

The two in demand desco 45's are Naomi Davis "41st st breakdown" and Joseph Henry "Who's The King".
