    Old School Finds

  • i'm sure there are parts of michigan that are nice..

Michigan is definitely nice -- I lived there from age 5-21 -- just outside of Detroit.

I've been in the Oakland for four years now and I'm getting pretty tired of it. The other day, it took me 25 minutes to drive three miles. That shit is crazy. Plus kidinquisitive gets all the records

  • What's the Fantastic Epics - Fun and Funk like? Is this the same group as the release on Kelton records?

Lunch break today. Still not off work, so these don't qualify for weekend digs.

Keepers / can???t remember if I have ???em / To listen to before deciding to keep or not:
Marion Black ??? Listen Black Brother (Prix)
Cy Coleman Co-Op ??? What Are Heavy? (London)
Bob Francis ??? There Goes My Baby (Atlantic)
Donny Hathaway ??? I Love You More Than You???ll Ever Know (Atco)
Donny Hathaway ??? Someday We???ll All Be Free (Atco)
Bobby Hutton ??? Come See What???s Left of Me (Philips)
Joe Shamwell ??? Can???t Give Up A Good Thing (OR)
Sugar Cakes ??? Chains (Warner Bros)
Tasha Thomas ??? I Saw the Sky (Roulette)
Timothy Wilson ??? Love Is Like An Aching In My Heart (Blue Rock)

and then there are a bunch of gospel 45s that I'll keep, even more sales 45s, and a short stack of trash 45s. Pleased to have found the Bobby Hutton, Tasha Thomas, and Joe Shamwell though!

my connect pulls another 20 boxes out of a (1960s-70s) dj's widow, gives me 1st crack, results of latest madness:

^^never ever thought id see an og "Oar"!

    the 45s...

i believe this is zappas 1st ever appearance on record. you can definitely tell its him on guitar, very frenetic and fuzzed soloing all over an otherwise ordinary instrumental surf/rnb type song. definitely ahead of its 1961 time.

  • That Goody Goody cover is one of my favourites and mighty fine Disco lp as well

I really dig that Crystal grass track

Anything else on the Lp worthy?

I just picked up pure pleasure - 'by my side' in detroit too! nice!

Third record is Domestic Five - It's An Empty World -- record is pretty damn clean, but sadly the label is half gone on both sides.

those aquarius labels are notorious for falling off.

actually theyre both still sealed, will be cracking one open soon. I read somewhere its good stuff, and i knew it had to be raer so i grabbed both copies.

the record shop of my private mind garden is open for mental business only. but actually i will be doing a new round of strut set sale and trades when i get my sh*t together.
