    not sure. i guess i was thinking about the entire drum solo. the break goes into the free drumming and then back to the break

    Good question. I prob should have defined my terms more explicitly. It doesn't have to be a breakdown in the middle of a track, just open 4/4 drums at any point in a song.

    The Niagara counts b/c it's a syncopated 4/4 rhythm almost throughout. So far I think thats the longest. The ones I mentioned above are at most 2.5-3 min long.

    I'm surprised there aren't more references to live stuff.

    Oh yeah, Bizzo, is that entire track all drums? I thought I remembered some piano and other jazz instrumentation on that.

    It's no Sangandongo but Black Pearls version of Cold sweat is nothing to scoff at - re: live versions.

    Doggone. Two parts. not the longest break ever, but you get a tempo change and you also get the jazzy part that is amazing.

    for all the beat makers out there...

    do you find that you don't do as much with the loooong breaks as you would with a 2 bar break. I always felt somewhat burdened by the ones that go on for like a minute. It's like it's a shame not to use all the parts, but it's also a hassle to use all the parts. But then the 2 bar breaks you grab it all quick and usually end up doing more changes because of the limitations.

    Yeah, The "Te Amo" break is most def, more that 8 bars long and like Maru says, It goes into the bugged drum roll solo, then...back to the break...then...more solo,fills,rolls,etc...then back to the break again .

    Also..I know it's a basic break, but I ride the Lee Michael break (great album anyway)

    also,not a long break(but a worthy mention) is Andy Loore(Janko Nilovic) "Drummers Bell"
