the african record in this one is a xian high life record from the 80s by the narrow way ( i think?-- that or they are called mfafaha usung) -- the band has 13 people in it --its autographed by the pastor in the band-- pastor oboh who.
also--the record by manolo gas and the tinto band bang is killer latin funk/disco with some moog synth and hot grooves and breaks galore! it goes for some good cash i found archived it went for 90 bucks on ebay (its not on popsike). the coltrane is a early 70s blue note reissue--
nice stuff dakar jorge at the SA. unheardof IME. I've been coming up good down here, but I can't get my webspace to work for pictures. just switched to comcast.
best score was some nice 45s on Hull street (gaturs, alvin cash, marva whitney, bernard calvin etc.)
Anyway I grabbed these this weekend, finally found The First Minute... "The Liberation Song" is a fine peice of music. The Mark Murphy peice contains some solid tracks as well.
its called beasts and fiends if the pic is too blurry here is a lil clip of the first cut havent got to listen to it all the way through, but what i have heard so far is fresh... funk with a lil rock in the mix. charisma i am really diggin this lp
peace
sounds cool. but most likely not the same group i'm trying to find some info on. any details on where this Charisma is from?: cool finds.
didnt have much to go on. the record says it was recorded at the record plant so quite possibly they could be from cali what label was the 45 from? charisma had a self titled album out in 69 on roulette, beasts and fiends in 1970. thats all i could find

the one on rock mill? if so holler at me... id be down to take that off your hands...
Clearly Reynaldo is engauged in a sociological experament: He is mearly holding a mirror, if you will, up to the age of excess in which we now live. Read between the lines, people!

no, it's on a label called Beauty. I'm pretty sure it's a NY record.
Unfortunately it's not going anywhere. i quite like it.
Definitely. I keep like 1% of the records that I find or are brought into the shop. And they're either beat, unsellable copies or rap shit nobody wants anyway (at least, not in NYC).
Or the weekly losses thread could document all the wasted time spent researching, looking up records, chatting about records over the internet, etc. now how to quantify this??? hmmm... 5 lost hours= 2 bags of chex party mix.
on an unrelated note- i had a dream last night that my four front teeth could slide off b/c they were too loose.. but they sort of would slide as a group, almost like they were a part of a transformer toy or something. I just sat there in the mirror smiling, all gummy, and woke up in a sweat. still got my teeth though.
