shoot! didn't even notice that my PMs were turned off. i recieved several pms yesterday! strange. please pm your email address. i can't even open my old email-account.
By the way for those of you who like that sound there's a friendly dude who got some super german heat on his website shop: www.whatiswrongwithgrooving.com He also put his want list so trades are OK too
HOLY SHIT! O-V-E-R-P-R-I-C-E-D!!!
I have traded with this guy and he's super cool to deal with! Highly recomended, and he has plenty of stuff for trade that's NOT on his site. Dude's name is Martin.
I bought some records from him via eBay some years ago. He's very cool!
I just don't get that German Euro Brazil hype. Most of the records being offered as rare German Fusion Brazil Bossa Scat are very very very , plus not rare at all.
I bet Martin has great records. No doubt. Wasn't trying to say anything bad about him or his store. I was just stunned by some of his prices.
Who is FASIA...? I got one of her records and it's pretty dope! Funky!
B
no idea. who is it? got a jpeg raer? what's her/their real name?
Just bought that one a couple of months ago. Socialist songs sung by this woman Fasia, whom I don't know anything about. It's on a label called Pl??ne out of Dortmund, probably a socialist label like Demos in Denmark. It's recorded in Hamburg and K??ln. There are songs about the struggles of the working class, George Jackson, the military coup in Chile, Bob Dylan covers in german, stuff like that. Some of it is folky but a few tunes are really funky with a horn section on top. "Freedom, Freiheit, Libert??" is the choice cut. Her vocal is a bit annoying at times though.
Grope, I've got these two comps on Crippled Dick Wax called Popshopping 1 & 2 with tunes from german commercials that were issued on giveaway flexidiscs. Some really great (as well as terribly cheesy) stuff on there from people like Wolfgang Dauner, Johnny Teupen, Peter Schirmann a.o., and some hilarous voiceovers. Of course those things are impossible to track down even here in your neighbor country. Do you have some of these flexidiscs? I'd love to see some pics! I got to get that Oimels LP as well. I'm definetely digging Dauner.

I found these online.
Teupen's tune The Minikillers is not from a commercial nor is it on a flexi. It was one of those 7"s that came with an 8mm film. You had to put the film and the record on simultaniously, like the Americom releases from the US (but those are flexis). I have the 7" but sadly not the package and the film. I have one more german 7" 8mm soundtrack called 'Anal Party', also from the beginning of the seventies. At the beginning of the record a woman expresses her fear for the size of the guy. He answers: "Keine angst, wir machen es ganz langsam und systematisch".

HAHAHA. That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while. It would be interesting to hear some soundclips. Are you able to do that? Those 8mm soundtracks look really interesting. I wasn't aware of that whole 7" sound/8mm sight combo concept. Must have been a synchronization nightmare.
There are sooooo many rare German Prog and Psych records. Some were pressed in tiny tiny quantities and going for top dollar. I don't own any Prog or "Psych" record. It's a completely different digging territory. No money, no game...
And those Crippled Dick people got access to some rare stuff that I'm not 100% sure about. Some of their compilations feature tracks that were never officially released. They might find master tapes at TV stations or ask musicians personally. I have never ever seen a flexi disc, nor one of those rare soundtracks. Like Eastern German spy series. Never seen soundtrack recordings. Never seen any other releases by those composers.
Don't ask me. I wish there was some Prog or Psych collector from Germany on this forum. Should have a lot to share and tell. WHERE ARE YOU?
Oh, before I forget. There are some nice German library labels besides Golden Ring, Happy Records, Selected Sound, Coloursound and Europhon. I don't own any, because they are kinda expensive, but I bet there's incredible music to be found on those records. Some big names being involved.
I see some good US records at stores and flea markets. Recent US finds for under 10 USD:
Freddie Hubbard - Straight Life on CTI (I like it) Freddie Hubbard - Red Clay on CTI Joe Farrell - Upon This Rock Kool & The Gang - Live at The PJs Kool & The Gang - Live at The Sex Machine Jimmy McGriff - Super Funk Collection on Groove Merchant Pazant Brothers - Loose & Juicy and Bantu Village by Blue Mitchell (although it's a German pressing on Blue Note)
all originals in great condition. Had to dig hard and walk miles for those records, but there are some good US records in Germany. I don't buy any Rock or mediocre Jazz or Soul Funk with breaks these days. I'm focusing on European records.
Beat For Lovers (try "Beat f??r Verliebte" or "Beat fuer Verliebte" on eBay) is really rare, although I found another dope LP on the REX label for 3 Dollars last week. I sold my Rusch copy. I'll find another one. One day...
Dave Kamien is a strange record. I thought that I discovered it first. Bought the first copy 6 or 7 years ago. I once had 4 more copies (one with signature by Dave) that I almost found at the same time. I have never seen a copy ever since at stores or flea markets. I found my 4 extra copies within some weeks. Kinda strange. Don't know if the LP is really rare or not. I traded or sold all of my copies. Will keep an eye out for you. Same for the KNEF LP. Not that rare, but usually around 20 USD. There are some (2 or 3) later pressings featuring either all or the best songs from that KNEF LP. Hildegard Knef died about 2 years ago and many people know her music. She was very very famous in Germany. I guess that's why record stores don't sell her LPs for cheap anymore. Watch out for Hans Hammerschmidt records. He directed the band on KNEF. Some dope stuff by him. Don't mess with his Schlager music attempts though.
Poser is overrated. It should be easier to find, but I never really looked out for that LP. I remember seeing covers like that Lifeline LP in crates, but I never took a closer look. That was 4 or 5 years ago. Isn't that record on Pl??ne?! The Pl??ne label (look above) is not THAT rare and people tend to underrate the Pl??ne label. Some decent stuff on Pl??ne. African Jazz, Cuban Jazz, groovy Jazz, Fusion, Rock, experimental music. Krautbreaks should step in and tell some more...
I'll keep your wants in mind and PM you once I find those records. Sorry for writing so much. I'm trying to sneak out of studying for college tests
Yeah! m_dejean, that's the one I was talkin about.
But I didn't find a good picture on the net. Worth checkin!
check my reply above. there's some good stuff on Pl??ne, no doubt. Don't know that Fasia LP. But I got a comic/kids record on Pl??ne that has nice songs. A choir featuring a small Jazz band featuring Fender Rhodes, bass and drums. A drum break plus various loops.

Whoa! completely forgot about that one. Haven't listened to it for years, but this thread made me dig it out from the shelf and put it on again. Some nice funky big band stuff.
I want to get my hands on some more Klaus Lenz. I've got
Modern Jazz Big Band '65 (Amiga) Klaus Lenz Big Band w. Uschi Br??ning, Klaus Nowordworski (Muza) Klaus Lenz Big Band w. Christiane Ufholz, Uschi Br??ning, Klaus Nowordworski (Amiga)
They are nice, but I know that my man Upskiboo has some others by him that are nice as well. He also has some really good albums by The Release Music Orchestra (RMO) on Brain that I want to get my hands on as well. I've only got "Beyond The Limits" from '77 which is ok, but the earlier ones are waaay better.
Let me know which others by Klaus Lenz. Got those you mentioned, but I'm not 100% sure about others. What am I missing? I can't access my records at the moment. I'm about to build a new kitchen from scratch and put lots of stuff in front of my record shelve.

Klaus Lenz Big Band "Modern Soul" on Amiga is very solid, but the cover is thin as fuck! the most thin cover I've ever expirienced. Beats all the polish stuff.
Has anybody been checkin' out "Jazz goes Swinging" on Europa? it's some really dope jazz grooves with good atmosphere.

Yes, I know Jazz Goes Swinging. A little bit to quiet for me. Sounds more like a traditional Big Band LP to me. I'm missing the Funk. St. Tropez Orchestra, right?
Yeah, Modern Soul Band is tight. I know all of their LPs. Check out the one with the brown cover as well as the one with the blue cover. There's a superb flute Jazz track on the brown-covered one.
The covers are exactly like the Muza ones. Same company, I guess. Totally thin and cheap. I wish they had gatefolds or inlays...

Yeah, that's kind of a sleeper. It looks corny, but there's some really solid jazz playing on that album, early sixties style. I wonder who the musicians are. Must be some heavyweights.

Yeah, for sure. Europa somehow managed to get some Jazz and Rock heavyweights to record under a fake name or straight steal music from other officially released records. I wonder how they managed to get away with it.
Yes, I know Jazz Goes Swinging. A little bit to quiet for me. Sounds more like a traditional Big Band LP to me. I'm missing the Funk. St. Tropez Orchestra, right?
That's the one. Yellow cover with a brown girl on. The thing about it for me; is that it looks cheap as hell but is real quality (at least to me).
I've heard some different people guessing that it was people like Sahib Shihab. It could be, but who knows if we will ever find out.
Yeah, for sure. Europa somehow managed to get some Jazz and Rock heavyweights to record under a fake name or straight steal music from other officially released records. I wonder how they managed to get away with it.
I heard a rumour that "Supreme Psychedelic Underground" by The Hell Preachers Inc. is really Deep Purple under a fake name. Is that true? Judging from the music, it just might be.
I bought some records from him via eBay some years ago. He's very cool!

Oh yeah man, I know you weren't dissing him! Just thought I'd add that I have had good experiences with the dude. We traded like 2 weeks ago! I certainly agree his prices are high, but then my gemm prices are high too. Just trying to catch those big fish I guess.

Dude, I got this record just recently too. I love it. The whole first side is amazing, and (unexpected) cover of 'reverend lee' is really nice IMO. But yeah, what's with the rice paper cover?

Don't know why, but EVERY Amiga release has that kind of a soft cover. Guess Eastern Germany was priniting their covers at the company that Muza used too. Their covers are the same.

two more i'm looking for are armin rusch-beat for lovers, dave kamien-terra contact and hildegard knef-knef
those usually go for way more than i'm willing to pay.
oh yeah grope how easy to find in germany are american records ? I mean good ones. do you see them at stores or is ebay the only way to get them?
Freddie Hubbard - Straight Life on CTI (I like it)
Freddie Hubbard - Red Clay on CTI
Joe Farrell - Upon This Rock
