    There's been white Brit dudes singing like blacks for years as well (Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood, Rod Stewart, etc). People try to sing like their heroes, nothing new here.b,121b, 21Duffy should not be mentioned with Winehouse, Adele, Russell, etc. You can tell when she sings that she probably heard her first soul records 2 years ago.

Being poor in a rich country isn't as restrictive as being poor in a poor country. Something like a guitar for instance would've been very expensive and out of reach for your average working class British teenager.
