For real these are the best things I have ever eaten. I moved to NYC a while ago and foundyou find these things at every bodega deli and corner store. Dudes get fancy with them too putting cheese and pepperoni up in them. If you dont know what this is, I think its government name is "Empanada". Im bout to F*ck up a chicken one right now after drinking a bunch of jack. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/game.gif" alt="" 21b,121b,121 img src="http://cff.wistex.com/files/beef patty.jpg"1 b,121b,121This company is official b,121a href="http://www.towerislespatties.com/" target="_blank"1http://www.towerislespatties.com//a1b,121b,121My question is: Are these a national thing? Cause I really havent seen them outside city limits. Whats your local beef patti experience like?

We had them in Florida. I don't F*ck with them for fear of sickness unless they're from the ital spot on 1st ave.

Ahh F*ck the sickness. I need some good ass rain in am to make me feel alive. b,121b,121Nah but for real, i only eat these shits when Im drinking. They hit the spot after 10 beers. The deli down the street from me does them up proper too with mozzarella cheese and shit. b,121b,121I bugged out today though when I rolled into a pizzeria on lex and 55th and saw this menu where they had beef patties with pepporoni, ones with cheese, ones with ham(?), ones with lettuce and mayo. All with little pictures. Its like dudes took customizing to a whole new level up in there. Beef patties some serious bizness by bloomingdales. b,121b,121I might try one with pepperoni and shit my pants at work. Its like a science experiment.

They are a reality in the UK. Get 'em warm from the market at the shopping centre in town. Heated up by ginuwine Jamaicans. Perfect for chav shopping. Local alternative is a polystyrene cup of hot mushy garden peas with mint sauce. Don't fear it 'less you been near it.

  • b,121Yep, you can find good patties and all other kinds of West Indian treats here in Londonb,121b,121When it comes to patties b,121b,121Saltfish ones are my favourite kind

  • Beef patties from the corner deli are seriously off-limits.b,121b,121I've been going to Christies on Flatbush for a decade now, even though it's not as good as it used to be and that stretch of the avenue is intolerable.

font class="post"1b,121b,121not anymore cause I don't eat meat, and as mentioned a while back in another thread, with coco bread is the way to go. you can get them almost anywhere in downtown and beyond Toronto, including subway stations and random corner stores.b,121b,121 img src="http://cff.wistex.com/files/beef patty.jpg"1 b,121b,121Is this a random pic? • ^^^^^foulb,121b,121Jamaican patties are either chicken, beef, goat or vegetable. I had some really good patties and fish cakes at the Atlatic Ave street fair this weekend. I'll go with Jonny and co-sign Christies, they also make some of the best oxtail in the city. My girl Yvonne in her lunch truck at 71st and York has great patties too.b,121b,121Empanadas (sometimes called pastelillos) are spansish and are filled with all sorts of food, from peperoni with cheese and tomato sauce, to codfish and crab, to plain ol' cheese. I've yet to have a good empanada in the city, they're all average and overpriced when I see them.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Sayin'. Beef patties and empanadas are two different things. That said, I don't fusk with either of them. I restrict my bad nutritional choices to booze. But you can get empanadas all over my neighborhood. The beef patties are more of a random corner store thing.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Good questions. b,121b,121I suggest you ask the person behind the counter next time you're at your local Jamaican spot. I think you should ask in pretty much the same wording as above, too. Please report back their response.

Beef Patties from the deli, pizzaria, or frozen food aisle are counterfeit. Fusk that Tower Isle crap. There are dozens of great Jamaican and West Indian Bakeries in the 5 boroughs. Get familiar.

  • The national dish is actually ackee (the national fruit) and salt fish (salted cod). have not made acke and salt fish in some time because the price of a can of ackee on church avenue is 10 dollars now. b,121b,121b,121b,121 img src="http://a857.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/91/l_2d28ddb062ba1d0e07a5517af1552f30.jpg"1 b,121b,121 img src="http://a791.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/65/l_301f8a5cf8e07a0d835912e391ab8866.jpg"1 b,121b,121b,121b,121but for patties if it aint christies im very skeptical. the chicken and whole wheat veggie patties are amazing. the coco bread is always baked fresh and warm. My homeboy in South Florida has one in his yard. I wouldn't imagine you can get them fresh up here since they have to get so ripe before they come off the tree. Transport and shelf time are prohibitive for selling tropical goods that spoil easily.
