b,121they wrote some great songs and repped Long Beach. It's not their fault their music became a frat house staple.

b,121LOL, dude, that music sounds like it was created inside a test tube specifically in order to appeal to frat dudes.

b,121lol. this coming from a dude that (a) chooses his crappy music almost EXCLUSIVELY on the basis of where the artist happens to be from and (b) has gone on record on this board riding for some of the most suspect whiteboy rock music ever (see: Guns N Roses thread).

font class="post"1b,121b,121Gawd forbid a white boy like some straight-ahead white boy rock. b,121b,121But when white boy likes some muddled, wannabe-reggae/ska/rap fused with whiny rock...party's on at Chad's (frat)house.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I don't want to even go down this path.b,121b,121Alls I'm saying is it's pretty hilarious for Shied to scoff at regional music affiliation.b,121b,121Sublime created a sound that was co-opted by frat kids and faux-punk Santa Barbara pretender bands for years to come, thus sullying what was, early on, some good songwriting.b,121b,121I'm sorry it distracted Faux from his summer independent study of the habits of the urban blue collar male.
b,121i was ambivalent about sublime until i moved to san diego 7 years ago.
b,121i think they give you a free copy of their greatest hits if you move here from the midwest, live with four other people in a one bedroom apartment near the beach and don't own a vacuum.

font class="post"1b,121way overplayed in LA too, along with RHCP's various songs about California
Never heard them growing up and was only exposed to them when my girlfriend at the time bought a best of album of theirs after explaining that she used to love their stuff. We put it on when we got home and both sat there in embarrassed silence until she started skipping through the tracks stating that these weren't her favourite songs. By the end of the CD she had started slating them aggressively while I sat politely trying to hear what was good.b,121b,121We never talked about it again.
