Not sure what shoes you should get but thought this might help you decide. It was in The Sun herald (Sydney) paperb,121b,121"JOGGERS shouldn't waste their money on expensive, hi-tech shoes, because they're no better than old, worn ones, according to a study.b,121b,121After pounding the streets for 320km, runners were found to have gained "no clear advantage" from wearing leading brands with trademark cushioning technology.b,121b,121The finding comes as shoe manufacturers switch their focus from "gimmicky" models with lots of hi-tech features to more basic "barefoot" styles.b,121b,121Australian experts warn that hi-tech cushioning - mostly based on air, gel or spring - can create bad running habits and foot problems.b,121b,121Joggers in the US study, published in the latest edition of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, were found to automatically modify their technique to maintain a constant force on their legs as their shoes became worn out.b,121b,121Brenden Brown, of the Australian Podiatry Association, advises patients not to choose hi-tech cushioned shoes.b,121b,121Mr Brown said joggers tended to come out of sports shops with more expensive shoes than they expected.b,121b,121"People often choose a shoe because it feels cushy when they try it on, but cushioning often breaks down quickly.b,121b,121"Many of the really well-known brands that have large pillows of air hanging out of them aren't always the best shoes - and we actually find they often cause problems in people."b,121b,121Mr Brown recommends spending about $140 on mid-range running shoes, instead of top-end models costing around $350.b,121b,121The US study found there was "no clear advantage of incorporating a particular technology with respect to shoe degradation".b,121b,121Researchers tested three shoes - Nike Pegasus with air, Asics GT-2100 with gel and Spira Volare II with spring - on 24 male and female runners.b,121b,121Brent Harris, manager of Running Science at Rozelle, in Sydney's inner west, warned cushioning could encourage runners to develop bad habits.b,121b,121He said companies such as Nike made between six and eight styles of "very good" running shoes, but the vast majority were fashion shoes."

  • mizuno wave creation 8. by far the best pair of running shoes i've ever bought so far. sons any nike shox/airmax, new balance, asics, adidas, etc. i've tried. very light, good support, and flossy as hell.b,121b,121img src="http://www.runnersretreat.com/images/DWShoes/Neutral/Mens/Mcreation8.JPG"1

font class="post"1b,121b,121Cosine. I work across the street from their HQ, and they have a nice lil outlet store. I copped my running shoes there, and I didn't know shoes could be like that. Highly recommended.

  • I pronate as well and have worn Asics DS Trainers for years. Great arch support and lightweight - I love em. Closer to $100 than $70. Also the added benefit of being consistently the ugliest shoes on the market.

  • new balance and asics. just try em on, your feet are different than mine. local running store around here will watch you walk (heel-toe or on the ballsof your feet) and tell you what kind of shoes you oughta wear. they are pretty good about it. do they make shoes under 70?

  • these joints were so insanely comfortable..they went from being my running kicks to being my everything kicks...ended up killing themb,121b,121b,121b,121b,121a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Nike-Air-Max-180-Ultramarine-HOA-9-Opium-Lime-Classic_W0QQitemZ150298348092QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150298348092&_trkparms=72:1205|39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14" target="_blank"1http://cgi.ebay.com/Nike-Air-Max-180-Ult...id=p3286.c0.m14/a1

font class="post"1b,121b,121My rule of thumb: The uglier the shoe, the better, and STAY AWAY FROM NIKES. b,121b,121I made the lame lame LAME mistake of running 10 miles in my Nike Air 5.0 only to be completely immobile for WEEKS afterwards. They really fucked up my feet! I was stupid and figured that since they were running shoes I could RUN in them, but really they are supposed to be slightly cute shoes that you wear with a matching outfit, go to the gym with to walk around in and then go home, maybe running up to one mile or something like that. b,121b,121I've been rocking some New Balance 767 or something like that for TOO LONG, but they are still great. They ran the LA Marathon with me and the Nike Women's Half Marahon. I think the life of a running shoe is supposed to be 400 or so miles, and although I've run waaaay more than that, they are actually still great, which is why I'm so lazy to buy nu shooz. b,121b,121 img src="http://www.daytonabeachcombers.com/images/Garfield Run2.gif"1

Cosign on everyone who recommended going to a good store and getting help w/ picking out a shoe. My local store (Fleet Feet in DC) lets you run around the block in them before you buy. It's so essential to get something that works with the shape of your foot and your style of running, especially if you are running any kind of real distance.b,121b,121I'm flat footed as hell and over pronate a ton.b,121b,121I just bought a new pair today actually:b,121b,121img src="http://ak.buy.com/db_assets/prod_lrg_images/510/208289510.jpg"1b,121b,121ugly as sin, but incredibly comfortable. $90.

...those are ugly? they look like normal running shoes to meb,121b,121i have a pair of saucony pro grid 4s. if you can get running shoes from a store that knows what they're doing, they'll help u figure out what kind of shoes are best based on where you're wearing out your feet on your current shoes. Thats what they did for me, i had to go up to evanston to get them but it was worth itb,121b,121img src="http://men.style.com/images/upgrader/gear/products/running-shoes/saucony-pro-grid_h.jpg"1

Brooks do good running shoes, as opposed to fashion shoes. Wifey swears by 'em. Shop she uses have the fancy machine and say always buy a size a little bigger than normal - which is why "Proper" running shoes come in half-sizes.
