  • I gotta go with Shawshank Redemption..its a perfect movie in my opinion, not a thing wrong with it...

  • That 90s list blows. There isn't one damn Soderbergh movie on it. Whatabout Sex Lies & Videotape or Out of Sight or The Limey?b,121b,121[i]Why don't they make shows about people's daily lives you'd be interested in watching? You know, like "Sick Old Man" or "Skinny Little Weakling." "Big Fat Guy." Wouldn't you watch a show called "Big Fat Guy"? I'd watch that fusking show. /i1b,121b,121img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sn.gif" alt="" 21b,121b,121LOL @ The Godfather III being on there thoughb,121b,121edit: my bad, out of Sight is on there at #90. #90.. A crime, I tell ya

I knew I was forgetting something...I could picture myself sitting at a preview screening of this at the Toronto Film Festival, having a great time and not being at all surprised at the steady flow of ladies-who-lunch who leaving the theatre ready to hurl. b,121And then I remembered!b,121Not for the faint of heart or homophobic, a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hustler_White" target="_blank"1Bruce LaBruce's Hustler White/a1 is one of the funniest and most-entertaining movies of the 90s.

Quote:/font1h,121b,121isnt "in the mood for love" basically "days of being wild" on a bigger budget? i think by the time in the mood for love came out, i found his approach to be kinda formulaic and i wasnt really feeling it liek that. its not that i didnt like it, i just really liked the ones he did on a smaller budget. b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1b,121b,121Well maybe, they are part of the same trilogy. When I first saw ITMFL though I had only seen one WKW movie before, so it seemed like a perfect movie to me, and still does.

    Is it my imagination, or no one's mentioned any Fincher or Altman yet? Woody Allen even had a few (of his last) good ones in the 90s. (Husbands and Wives, Sweet and Lowdown)b,121b,121anyway, IMO the 90s were a fine decade for film IMO -- it's just that Hollywood sucked more often than not, and film as culture was thriving on the margins. b,121b,121some 90 foreign-film nerdery:b,121b,121img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/27/60638140_48df4eb7dd.jpg"1b,121Tsai Ming-Liang/b1 i1The Hole/i1b,121b,121img src="http://www.cinecultist.com/images/ratcatcher.jpg"1b,121Lynne Ramsay/b1 i1Ratcatcher/i1b,121b,121img src="http://www.torrentportal.com/uploads/images/1350847LaViedeJesusPoster.jpg"1b,121Bruno Dumont/b1 i1Life of Jesus/i1 (NOT about the historical figure Jesus)b,121b,121img src="http://newyorkvideoonline.com/motherandson.gif"1b,121Alexander Sokurov/b1 i1Mother and Son/i1b,121b,121img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BS391XE2L._SL500_AA240_.jpg"1b,121Claire Denis/b1 i1I Can't Sleep/i1b,121b,121img src="http://torrents.bittorrent.com/tai-seng/11b12d753aca50a8fea7d3674148bc8d61fcbf77/xlarge.jpg"1b,121Hong sang-soo/b1 i1Power of Kangwon Province/i1b,121b,121img src="http://www.filmcatcher.com/uploads/img/product/51P5K76ZXYL._AA280_.jpg"1b,121Olivier Assayas/b1 i1Late August, Early September/i1b,121b,121img src="http://www.filmcatcher.com/uploads/img/product/celebration.jpg"1b,121Thomas Vintervberg/b1 i1Celebration/i1b,121b,121img src="http://dearcinema.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/dayerah.JPG"1b,121Jafar Panahi/b1 i1The Circle/i1b,121b,121img src="http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc258/NicoDGippo/Romance.jpg"1b,121Catherine Breillat/b1 i1Romance/i1b,121b,121Just this week ordered the DVD of this 8-hour Bela Tarr '90s ilm w/ high hopes:b,121b,121img src="http://www.fanhall.com/upload/2007_03/07030823169648.jpg"1b,121b,121and, in defense of Hollywood, I submit the masterpiece that is/was:b,121img src="http://storypilot.com/sf/Videos/Zone/Starship Troopers.jpg"1
