Plaese to post a link if you have one.b,121b,121But I've seen this PC commercial with Seinfeld and Bill Gates: b,121b,121a href="http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9114138"1target="_blank"1http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9114138b,121b,121And it's awful.b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/talib-doodoo.gif" alt="" 21

If I were a graphic designer, or did some other form of visual art, a Mac would be necessary. Otherwise, why would you choose to burden yourself with expensive proprietary shit that you can't cheaply upgrade when it becomes obsolete? That whole Mac campaign is condescending and it shows.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Cue Mac vs PC debate part 4,567,783b,121b,121Move along, nothing new to see here...

  • Bill gates stole (bought) his first Os (MS-Dos) from the dude who sold him the parts to build his microcomputers, it was originally called QDOS- Quick and Dirty Operating System.b,121b,121He bit the GUI work from the Xerox park team and doesn't listen to his current top developers.b,121b,121Anyone who has seen Vista in action (Release was like 3 years late?) knows that microsoft should stick to office, shitmost used product in the world, I have no idea why they are tarnishing their reputation trying to make consumer OSs. Their server stuff works nearly flawlessly.b,121b,121They are just not good at being flashy, so why try?

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121Vista is so despised that they've actually started running a series of ads where people try what they think is a "new" O/S and then are all pleasantly surprised when they find out it's Vista...b,121b,121b,121img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/talib-doodoo.gif" alt="" 21

I mean, I'm a Mac dude but that's just cause it works for me. I'm not into debating THIS is better than THAT. I just liked the commercial.

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121I guess that was sort of my point too. Both have very obvious areas of strength, which is why the divisive commercials bother me.

I think all this news coverage that they've "pulled" the "terrible" jerry and bill ads, right as they happen to roll out the new spots is pretty damn crafty. They are playing this real tight, and like political ads they're not targeting either sides "base" but instead the "swing voters"1if that makes any sense....

Probably a few. Nothing that wasn't taken care of the same day, though. I'm not saying PCs are perfect, I just don't agree with the idea that one or the other is better for most people. It's like arguing cars vs. pickups.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Like 1 a year that's fixed within a half hour. The virus debate Mac folks throw out there was always a moot point to me. It's not even an issue if you're on top of things. I've used Macs & PC's and I've had them equally freeze up/just fusk up for no reason. I can fix a PC myself in no time regardless of the problem and I haven't paid for most software in years. NAGL perhaps but I simply don't have the money for everything. Every Mac head I know seems to spend an surprising amount of money to keep their machines going. Everyone I know had their CD/DVD drive shit the bed in thier Mac laptop. Too costly of a route for many (myself included).b,121b,121The best analogy I ever heard was:b,121Mac = Cadillacb,121PC = Japanese automobileb,121they'll both get you where you need to go no problem but the Caddy will get you there in style.b,121b,121Oh yeah and fusk Vista.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Zero. b,121b,121My machines are always up to date, behind a nat router & firewall, and I run daily scans just to be sure. b,121b,121Since I take care of all the PCs in my family (and a few of my in-laws) the grand total of virus and trojans I have encountered on 9 PCs in the last three years, 1.b,121b,121That single instance was user error. Said party downloaded a program from an 3rd party and installed the thing themselves. Not much you can do to prevent an ID10T errors.b,121b,121As a bookkeeper, graphic designer, and the dozen other tech hats I wear I have used both Macs and PCs. They are not cars, they are tools and you use the right tool for the right job.b,121b,121ul type="square"1* Bookkeeping/Accounting/Point of Sale - PC, hands down... Mac's NAGL.b,121* Graphic Design - Was Mac, now pretty much even. Depends on preference.b,121* Video - Mac still has the advantage, but it's dwindling.b,121* Music - Mac, but PC have improved, a lot.b,121* Gaming - Get real, PC only. If you own a Mac just buy a console.b,121* Printing - Mostly Mac by legacy, but I work at a mixed PC & Mac shop.b,121* CAD/CAM - PC only. My dentist can mill a crown in half and hour and put it in during a single visit. Love the German engineering.b,121* Porn downloads - User choice./ul1b,121b,121Now if you are talking ease of use and rockin' design, Macs win hands down. There are some cool PC builds but usually they are custom jobs, the workhorse PCs still look like Stalinist sculpture for the most part.b,121b,121As for Vista, nerd please! I wouldn't let it near my box if you paid me. It is the picture next to the definition of bloatware. Second on the list is 64bit XP, like the memory capacity but some programs just don't work on it. They can pry XP Pro from my cold dead fingers...b,121b,121img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/GetOnMyComp_gm.jpg" alt="" 21

If you take someone with no computer knowledge whatsoever, it'd be far easier to get them up and running on a Mac than a PC. Not that I'd want the job of training such a person regardless.

If you take someone who has no computer knowledge and try to teach them shit, you are going to end up with the identical experience on either Windows or OSX. Web browsing and word processing are for the most part the exact same shit on each.

No one designs their OS with complete luddites as the lowest common denominator anyway.
