'81 Honda C70 Passport aka Honda Super Cub, Monza Red
Technically a motorcycle but generally accepted as a moped.
That reminds me I gotta buy a new battery this weekend. Hopefully winter ends soon so I can ride it.

unfortunatly I don't have a ride at th moment. But I'm really considering to buy a vintage vespa scooter. One from the 60ies or early 70ies would be lovely. The only problem is my fingers are all thumbs... so the scooter shouldn't be susceptible to failure and therefore at least in vg++ condition. Does anybody know how much such a scooter would set me back?
a nice vespa like that, running perfectly, could set you back anywhere from $1500-$4000....
id stick with something cheaper, like that passport button has. classic styling (based on the honda cub which is the best selling VEHICLE of all time) leg shields, they made them from 50-90cc and they are basically bulletproof.
none of mine are mopeds, though. a couple nopeds and a couple motorcycles (even though the MB5 is a 2-stroke 50cc, it's a manual 5-speed that revs to 10,500 rpm and can go 50-55mph...)
here are the bikes i currently own (im a honda nut):
1982 MB5 (which i just bought and fuckin LOVE): IMG src=http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v231/227/109/501292729/n501292729_439464_2733.jpg>
and the 1978 NC50 i'm fixing up for my girlfriend (supposed to go get an air filter box and headlight ring for it today...hopefully): IMG src=http://photos-f.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v193/227/109/501292729/n501292729_346773_6492.jpg>
You don't see these in the States? We used to see them all over Holland in the late 70's and 80's.
I used to hate them back then but now I can appreciate the design.
nope. i dont think zundapps even made it over here at all. maybe kreidlers but ive definitely never seen that model in america.
small motorcycles are a bit of a rarity over here. usually if you find them they are japanese bikes. i had a 1973 Honda CL70 but the carb kept leaking into the oil tank making it run inconsistently so i sold it to my friend.
i know there are a handful of bigger puchs over here from the 60s. other than that not a lot of cool smaller euro bikes.

If you were a handyman yourself, you would fool around a little bit with the tailpipe. I don't know exactly what it was that people did to them but they would make an awful lot of noise. And that smell!
but she just found out it has some serious engine problems so she might be getting a different bike.
WOW that's the slickest Passport I've ever seen. Where'd she get the chrome trim for the leg shield??? I bought mine minty like that, but 4+ years of city life and inhospitable weather have taken a toll. I was gonna devote this summer to making it shine again.
Also if I were her, I'd just buy a new engine. They're only like $300 bucks right? Surely cheaper than a whole new bike that probably isn't half as cool looking.

yeah, she's still trying to get it fixed. however if she ends up getting a new bike, i've been showing her what she should try to find. trying to get her to buy an S65 or something. we'll see what she ends up doing.
I've got a silver Vespa PX200, my partner has a black one as well as a vintage 1962 SS180 that is painted bright orange. I have a bunch of classic motorcycles that I own with my Dad, but they are all in storage, not really applicable to this thread, mainly old Nortons & Yamaha race bikes, as well as some other odd stuff. Every now & then I'll go get one out of storage & give it a going over, I love that stuff so much, real fun to give myself a break from music for a bit.
mopeds... i'd only ever buy a Vespa. I'll get me a real motorbike one day and cruise through the ARC in Utrecht. I'm looking for a thing between a chopper and a race bike. which makes no sense at all, but i'd go custom made anyway...

Strictly bicycles now.
Tomos 4TL
i might be looking at a couple Maxi's myself today, some guy has a couple non-running ones i might be able to get dirt-cheap...
i was supposed to buy a running Magnum for $600 not that long ago, but the kid claims his dog ate the title....hahaha
oh well. i'm happier with my mb5 anyway.
damn.
Tomos was the one you would ride when you were a bit more alternative.
The 'macho' dudes would ride one of these:

Kaptein mobilette was my no.1 choice when i became 16.
it must have been dangerous. we were only 14 back then. it was his brothers bike.
I don't scoot, I levitate.
I'm going to go clean up my Motobecane to take a pic of it.
an electric wheelchair would be my top choice for a perfect day at the ARC.
nice soft focus
damn, i'd love to get a pinto...nice work
nice...
i know a dude with one of these, a batavus and 2 puch maxi's in a barn. hopefully i can get some of them offa him. i wonder if he has titles....
