weird band. they came from beat, turned into a psych band for 2 records, but you can clearly hear that were not really into that genre. the lps are kinda expensive and are hard to find. i can't get into their sound though. too popish.
they are from the same state that i live in and played many concerts in my hometown. still, i hardly ever see their good records. the cheap one on europa is horrible IMO deeper blue or sth... can't remember the title.
Where's the best place to find the 45s of Marianne Mendt "Wie A Glock'n" & Frank Popp "Hip Teens Don't Wear Blue Jeans"??
When it comes to german porn music I'm into Oswald Kolle's Schulmaedchenreport soundtracks. they're quite cool and he was still performing in the early Nineties, when this kind of Music had it's revival. So check them out for cool loungey type stuff. The movies are softcore & a real laugh too!

don't know. the lp is cheap, so i never bothered about the 45... and i can't stand frank popp. seen him live and he sucked. bad musicians. corny as hell. dudes are a joke...
What are some afro music from Germany apart from Kapingdi (spelling?), Asiko and Mombasa?
Did you ever hear that german Frimpong record that was on ebay a week ago?
Peace,
Dress
frimpong? no... frank has some tracks in his mixes. check his blog...
there are tons of german/african records. a well known one: ikwezi
a colletro friend brought a totally random looking african record to my place. recorded in bremen. a 16 year-old singing like a 70 year-old blues musican. sounded like asiko. i forgot the name though. frank?
Don't like the Asiko at all... why does this still go for money, there's a copy on ebay every single week? I like their second (?) LP on EMI Nigeria much better.
I found some mid-80s, german recorded LP by Frimpong two weeks ago. It was pretty bad, I passed on it. Also found a mid-80s record by Marijata, also recorded in Germany... strange. Best German recorded and released Afro record in my opinion is the Dr. K Gyasy LP.

asiko has 2 big dancefloor tunes, maybe thats why. not a big fan of it too.. Whats that Gyasy LP like? Never heard of that one.
anything worth getting the comps for apart from 1,2,5, & 8 which i already have heard?? i hear 3 is good - but is it just for the Klaus Renft track?
i don't have any hallo lp. sorry... listened to some, but didn't like any. not into buying those kind of records just for one track...
fair enough -- a lot of the time the songs were only ever released on the hallo comps -not on any other albums or singles -such as that "uber fehuer" by ELEKTRA COMBO on hallo 5 ...surely ever one needs those drums in their life!

i think i know where to listen to the hallo comps again. it's not that i don't like the gdr jazz beat. i like the das z??ndet lp. which sounds like some of the hallo tracks. need to check again though.
you don't like Asiko? but you like music? that's just weiiiiiiiiird. i'd love me some asiko.
i feel like a record hipster now. i shouldn't disagree with frank! it's just something one should never do!
haha... I'd be worried if people wouldn't disagree with me on some points. Everyone should have their own taste. I flipped through the Asiko a while back and didn't like it. I couldn't find a single track that I'd play out in a club. It's been over 2 years and it's kinda hard for me now to put a finger on it, maybe it was the guitar sound or something else... I like their crazy fuzzed out second(?) LP in EMI Nigeria better but maybe I should give the German one another try. It just seems weird how a record that seems to be on eBay every single week still keeps going for $400. there must be plenty of them around.
I dont really like the Asiko record too much either. I have only heard snippets of it though. I do like one of the Kapingdi records from Germany though.

As I stated above, Hallo 6 has its moments and also 10. The "??ber feuer" track is also on the elektra album and has already been sampled
