45:[/b] Barbara Mason - Yes, I'm Ready / Keep Him
LP:[/b]
Picked these four up last week from the same guy.
The LP on the bottom right had this track on it:
Y.O.G.A.
I've got a scatchy copy of the 45 and I acutally like it that way...makes the song sound that much more raw.
Not that I'm abouve getting a minty copy
so far I got
RJ's Latest Arrival[/b] "S/T" (Zoo York)
Horace Tapscott[/b] "Live At Lobero" (Nimbus) - yet another Nimbus it took me forever to track down
Barbara Acklin[/b] "A Place in the Sun[/b] "Capitol) 1974 release with some nice sweet soul
and my favorite so far...
Keith Barrow[/b] "Physical Attraction" - 1977 LP with some bad disco but some great soul that more than makes up for the bad moments
I like how Keith is being cruised by Henry Rollins...
it looks like Grace Jones is making sure he don't have any reason to turn arond though
How's that RJ's Latest Arrival LP? I keep seeing that in the store, but for some reason never feel compelled to buy it. Any good?
My Modern Soul store purchases:
The Waters - "Watercolors" (Arista)
Fredi Grace and Rhinstone - "Get On Your Mark" (RCA)
Jerry Knight - "Perfect Fit" (A&M)
Eddie Kendricks - "Love Keys" (Atlantic)
Watson Beasley - S/T (Warner)
Impact - "The Pac Is Back" (WMOT)
...and from breakz4dayz:
Alfonzo Surret - "Coming Out" (MCA)
Vernon Burch - "Stepping Out" (Chocolate City)
SG
I was impressed with the sound clips on the site, so I don't anticipate being disappointed.

its the only RJ's Latest Arrival I've liked. Heard it over the homie, IGotThatBeat's house, not exactly electro but has some cool keyboards on it. The slower james are my thing but Cosmo was right on that party joint.
SG
Waldo was on my want list for quite a while...not a bad track on this lp.
The record on the right is Bob Brown Willoughbys lament 1971 Stormy Forest label produced by Richie Havens...some tripped out folk/acid/psych vibe. Not my style of music but its for trade if anyone wants
Some jazz, a bit of gospel and a Shure tracking test LP
Top left is Music To Read James Bond By, if that's your thing. Next to that is an apres ski teutonic swing/RnB group called Magic, or Magic Mountain. They all look gormless to fuck.
The JB It's a Mother is well shiny considering most of the King LPs I find, like the taped up one to the right.
The Synethia is just there in case APearson still needs inspiration for names.
a bunch of latin
ayo!
dude who opened it took mad shit from his personal collection and
was into free jazz...
Nate Morgan - Journey into Nigrita (nimbus)
Horace tapscott - Flight 17 (Nimbus)

gil scott-heron - Bridges (arista)

Mongo - Feeling alright (atlantic)
A couple of mingus atlantic og's
plus some other shit...
I'm happy, all the jazz for 6-10 bucks
soul and the others were 2-5
I love new owners...
and 2 copies of Sparticus - Triumverate (capitol)
should I open that Larry Willis?
I read the dusty groove review and they almost wet themselves over it
but their reviews are a little suspect...
Yeh Desh is cool, Kaamyab I think might be cool, Aap Ki Kasam is ok, but you gotta look for the moments, Imandaar is ok, Mohabbat Ka Dushman has some weird keyboard shiz on it, dunno bout Hum Rahe, John Jani and Teesri Ankh suck balls. Mahaveera is sitar oriented, if you like Timbaland beats, open it. If not, pass.
Haadsaa is clutch! Was that sealed?
Been trying to cop the Haadsaa for a while, back when I bought a couple Bolly titles straight from India on ebay. "Disco Cammatta" is key. If your guy has more, going back and writing down a whole bunch of titles and then researching might pay off. Picked up a Bolly piece called All Rounder by researching random info sites... has some great moments.
Co-sign. The Larry Willis is easily my faviourite record on that label. Really nice hard funky jazz. I think the dope track is 'coast to coast' or something like that.
I wetn digging today and my girlfriend pulled all the heat! She found me a double of this Aussie private press country album with a breakbeat cover of Joe Tex's 'Show me.' Also pulled this weird French record by this dude called Tala Andre Marie. The LP is called 'Hot Koki' and has one really nice track and a few other ok ones.
Yeah that's a nice Afrobeat track on that record...first person I ahve heard mention it. Pulled mine out a few years back at a flea, kinda beat, but that track(also called 'Hot Koki' I believe)was clean and the burner!

RJ's Latest Arrival "Cry Like A Wolf" is a club jumpoff.
RJ's Latest Arrival "movin on up" is a club jumpoff.
RJ's Latest Arrival "Nonstop A.E.R.O.B.I.C dancing" is a club jumpoff.
No, not cool.
Yesterday I got free pakoras because I was wearing my Amitabh Bachchan t-shirt. It was a good day.
i know you've played me some of the burners, but i still just don't get it. why do folks want crappy soundtracks to indian films?
I don't get it either. While I'm happy to sell profoundly mediocre Bollywood OSTs for lots of money, I don't know why people want them aside from wannabe hiphop producers looking for samples. Yes, there are a handful of amazing soundtracks, but that majority are terrible (unless you have a genuine interest in Indian film music). I suppose it's hype; Bollywood was the popular exotica for a while. A certain type of would-be collector wanted their Brazilian, got tired of that, looked to the mysterious subcontinent--India has funky music!?--and now lusts after Afro or Island funk while the guys who unearth the stuff are twenty steps ahead.
