NJS was always a strictly 12" genre for me, but recently I started wondering what have I missed by skipping almost all of the albums out there.Anyone able to recommend particulary good 1986-1991 era tracks that are good enough to make it worthwhile tracking down the albums? Slow or fast, doesn't matter.EDIT: I'll have to add that this post was partly inspired by Troop's S/T 1988 album which I've been blasting all day. "Young Girl" is my jam.

New Jill Swing got some heat as well.
ALBUM CUTS....this is a 12".
what other jams were the shit off of samuelles lp ?
is that what is considered new jack swing even? i mean, i like it, i can dance to it, he's got the sexy low voice thing going, but im not sure if its new jack swing or if its just from around the same time. i always thought new jack swing needed some half hearted attempt at rapalatin to be considered.
Good call on Today, I have the album somewhere and will check it again. Basically everything I ever heard by them is class. The Samuelle album I don't even recall seeing, will have to track it down.
this was a 12" too...though maybe a bit more under the radar.
Humpty Dance Snare
Synth Bass Lines
Big Silk Shirts
Bird Chests
feel free to add on
French New Jack Swing
ah ok. Released as Teddy or as The Winans? There's one or two better tracks on the Winans LP, just not so Yup-Yup-Yabba-di-Yup-Yup-Take-It-To-The-Bridge style.
Winans ft. Teddy Riley, I believe. A friend of mine had the Winans record on CD when it came out, but all I remember is "It's Time".
"A Friend" is better than "it's time" but it was a single also.
wow
Damn! I never saw a 12 inch on this... Was there a video also?
Oddly enough. The album is alright.
Keith Sweat/Ill Give All My Love To You - Your Love Part 2
Keith Sweat/Get Up On It - How Do You Like it Part 2
Kut Klose/Surrender - I Like......This whole album is very Good New Jill Swing
Damion Hall/Str8 To The Point - A Song For U.Hathaway cover w/ Aaron Hall
Aaaron Hall/Dont Be Afraid - Dont Be Afraid (Sex You Down) Version
Blackstreet - Joy...written by Michael Jackson....incredible
Dru Hill - Love's Train....Confunkshon cover
Lalah Hathaway - Im comin Back & I gotta Move On. She debuted durin NJS and dabbled w/ the production techniques. These songs arent NJS steez.
Shanice - You Were The One For Me....NJS era steez but not NJS purely
Check -
Ralph Tresvant's Solo
Jonny Gill's solo during New Edition
And no NJS collection isnt complete w/out Bobby Brown's second solo joint.
That shit really opened the door for the sound to gain public acceptance, cause Sweat was a Local Black Exp.
Also -
Kool Moe Dee and Big Daddy Kane - both cats contributed to the sounds appeal.
