I just looked over my Netflix returns for the last 90 days, and I would definitely recommend:
The Cramps: Live at Napa State Mental Hospital[/b] Approx. 45 minutes of the worst quality black-and-white footage you've ever seen featuring the Cramps performing, as the title suggests, at Napa State Mental Hospital. Includes an ongoing battle between the Cramps lead singer and an agitated, screaming woman in the crowd for possession of the microphone. Excellent.
Trailer Park Boys[/b] (TV Series) A Canadian mockumentary following three hapless trailer park lifers in their efforts to make good.
Grindhouse: Planet Terror[/b] The better of the two Grindhouse flicks, although Death Proof wasn't bad. Freddie Rodriguez shreds in this film, and Rose McGowan is suprisingly hot for a woman with a machine gun for a leg.
My Best Fiend: Klaus Kinski[/b] Hadn't seen much Werner Herzog before this. I will be seeing much more of his work having seen it.
Wild at Heart[/b] Nicholas Cage can really grate on me in some roles. This is not one of them. A thoroughly enjoyable David Lynch film from that sweet spot in his career after Dune and before Lost Highway. Shades of Twin Peaks everywhere, including a supporting turn by Laura Palmer.
Shoot Em Up[/b] Exactly what it says it is. The entire movie is a series of well-executed and imaginative gun fights including such highlights as: * Gun fight while delivering a baby * Gun fight while skydiving * Gun fight while banging Monica Bellucci
Word???? And just when I was about to pass that movie by.
Normally, I would have passed it by myself, but I was in the mood for a straight-up action movie, and it was really much better than I thought it would be. If you like a good action film, you're in for a treat.
Both of these movies are pretty dope, especially Last Man On Earth. It basically what I Am Legend should have been, and its got vincent price. I'm pretty sure you'll like it.
Army of Darkness
I'm probably the only person on earth that doesn't like this movie.
And yeah, Raymond is funny. Especially watching it with your lady. We watch that shit all the time.
so is that shoot em up thing tongue in cheek or what?
Oh, completely, but not in a "look at the camera to reinforce the absurdity" sort of way. It's an action movie that revels in the fact that what it's supposed to deliver is action, plot be damned.

Cool. The posters looked dope, and anything featuring Monica is automatically on my list. Then I saw a trailer and saw the whole over-the-top outrageous thing and was really turned off. I don't mind humor in my action films, but what they were doing seemed like too much. If you can assure me it's not, then I'll check it.
Although, if Monica is in any sort of state of undress/adult situation in it, then I think i'll have to check it on GP.

Oh, and I'm currently watching The Prisoner TV Series. Enjoying it thus far, in all its sixties sci-fi glory.
By far the best television series ever made. Every time I watch this whole series I am amazed. I first started watching The Prisoner when I was a kid in the 70s on late night PBS. The Prisoner also aired on CBS late night. This show captivated its UK audience when it originally aired and caused near chaos when it ended. Many people in the UK were upset and confused by the shows ending and they went straight crazy. People would confront Patrick McGoohan in public and start yelling at him. It got so bad that he moved with his family to Los Angeles. REALLY incredible show. If you have never seen it, don't sleep.
Oh, and I'm currently watching The Prisoner TV Series.
my dad would always talk about this show when I was growing up w/ a mixture of admiration and befuddlement. it's been a treat to finally be able to watch it.
UKTV shows are worth queuing up, I'm sure others have recommendations but check out the first season of Peep Show. Lots of people like The Mighty Boosh but I have not seen much of it.
For docs, I also recommend The Atomic Bomb Movie The Corporation PBS American Experience: Jonestown PBS Quest for Life Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room Ken Burns Jazz
that enron movie sucked ass. it was boring and hard to follow. there was one point where they were talking about "gambling" with the money and i could never figure out if they meant it literally, like in a casino, or not.

I thought it was riveting and detailed in a way that helped me understand what really happened w/ that situation, but also a film that demands your full attention or you'll get lost.

This movie also fits in perfect with the Pet Peeves thread. Mr. Smith could've been played by Jinx!
