We were having trouble deciding, a strut recommendation steered us this way.
Other memorable songs from that night:
Papa's Got a Brand New Bag - first non-slow song. Room went nuts.
Love to Love You Baby (Dirty Version) - The DJ had a promo 45, and didn't know the difference between the two sides. As Donna Summer started moaning a little too loudly, he cut it. He then scrawled 'DIRTY' on the one side in pencil. There is a great shot of my wife and all her friends laughing during that part.
My Baby Likes to Boogaloo - I went nuts. Swinging my pocket square like a matador.
I Only Have Eyes for You - The only way to end the night.
wow. shit is brazy. i'm sitting here trying to make up a cd for me and my lady's wedding, and i take a break to go to the strut and find this thread.
anyway, i really want joe bataan's "when we get married" to be the wedding song. immediately after that song ends, we gettin down to luke's "scarred". clean version though.
the future mrs is set on etta's "at last". i HATE that f*cking song. f'serious, i don't think there's another song i hate more.
btw, anyone have a copy of j.toro's wedding cd they can lend/send me?
Diggin' the topic as I recently got engaged this past Xmas... and of course, I'm only responsible for all things music for the wedding. (sweet)
I'm still waiting to see the budget to see if I can get a choice DJ, instead of a quality homey to do it.
Her first suggestions were "ribbon in the sky" for her to walk out to and for a song have a first dance (if we do that) of Bobby Caldwell "Open Your Eyes." Better... but no.
Luckily, I have over a year to work on this. Keep 'em coming... quite inspirational.

The wife and I chose All Over Again by Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings as our wedding song... At the reception we had the standard party dance floor fillers but I managed to slip in a few funk tracks, most notably "Do Me" by Jean Wright.
Quite a few people on the dance floor were all like:
First Dance was Boris Gardiner's version of 'Let's Stay Together.'
We played RAMP - Come Into Knowledge during the ceremony and did the wedding certificate signing thing to Eugene McDaniels' 'Supermarket Blues' - I had to explain that one to a lot of peopler. It is a song that has special signfiicance for my wife and I as it led to our first kiss!

Great song, a tad bit eerie, but dope.
Here's mine:
Grand Entrance: Lovely Day - Bill Withers
First Dance: By Your Side - Sade (yeah, a bit played out, but still good).

...and our walk in was to Real Life's "Send Me An Angel". We were debating whether to ride in on dueling bmx's, but that plan got nixed real fast.
Alright, I admit, the suggestion was purely my own.
