I just "discovered" On the Beach recently,
and it has been killing it for me.
Zuma is quite good, too.

me too, and because when I was really young...under 5, I loved the song 'Pocahontas' and thought he was singing "Alice" when he said aurorabori-alis-
kinda like hearing your name on romper room or something except I never watched RR.
Anyways, that song and album will never leave my heart.
hes good but ive never found him to be essential by any means......

If anyone likes On The Beach[/b], I highly recommend picking up the DVD-A version, which still can be found at a decent price. It's advanced resolution stereo, and since Neil Young hates the CD format, this is a version he approved of. I wish he had done a DVD-A for After The Gold Rush[/b], though.
The DVD-A of Harvest[/b], which also has a nice 5.1 mix, is worthy, although I myself got into the album much later than his other albums.

The story I heard is that Neil got big time into trains because his autistic son loved them.
Apparently they had a very calming effect.

He also gave that percentage to his son, so his son actually OWNS part of the company.
Huge respect for that move.
Zuma has always been a favorite of mine.
I lent this cd to a friend of mine. When he returned it he said it sounded like 50 minutes of Neil tuning his guitar. I can't say I agree. It was pretty funny though and I could see where he was comming from.
Plus the entire Buffalo Springfield discography (including the stuff on Decade like 'Down to the Wire')

Everybody Knows and On the Beach are a close second and third...
Can't hate on Harvest though as that was an early favorite and still sounds suprisingly fresh despite constant rotation on any and every so-called classic rock station of the past 25 years... thankfully not a radio listener and not affected by the 'played out factor'... surprised no one has mentioned... strut goin against the grain?!? There's a reason this has been such an enduring listen... least of which may be "The Needle"...
Speakin of Harvest, I remember the 'rents bumpin this quite a bit when it came out and eventually came around on it...
Hearing an album fifty times plus can tend to illicit said reaction... IMO, Not a bad follow up at all...
Cannot fuck with Powderfinger.
