A student and I are having a discussion about this phrase.
I say it means holding the steering wheel. He says it's a gun.
Who's right?
You're right.
Wood grain grippin' with my wet paint drippin'
That's what I said! If it's "candy paint drippin' and wood grain grippin" it's obviously about a car and the kids laughed and said no cars have wood steering wheels

That's funny, the first time I saw the phrase (on the label of "Grippin' the Grain" by Bonecrusher(?) ) I thought it was referring to a gun. Once I listened to more songs and heard it in context, I realized that it meant holdin the wheel.
All the flossy benzoz and beamers and lexus and bentley and maybach and any other high end luxury car has wood grain all over the interior, steering wheel included on a lot of them. of course for those that don't, you can get a custom one. Wood grain is definitely the fly shit on the interior of a car.
you should be all like "so guns got woodgrain handles? oh yeah smarty pants? PROVE IT then you l'il nothing-ass BITCH. yeah that's what I thought you ain't packing SHIT. now get the fuck outta my classroom before I smack the snot out your nose."

Anyone that knows the deal knows about High end "Nardi" steering wheels and yes the high end wood grain in all top notch cars. what kind of students are these?! They are totally wrong. Tell them Dee rock from the Strut says to do your homework and step your game up!
Does this dude live in Houston and Seattle? My hommie Valentine is the barber cutting his hair in the video. The barbershop scenes were filmed here in Seattle at Valentine's. Best barbershop EVAR! While I'm getting my hair cut I sit in a leather club chair with my feet up on an ottoman drinking a couple of good glasses of Scotch or bourbon. Real Seattle headz know the deal.

Nice. I'm no good at identifying cars without the full photo. I like the color a lot. My buddy is planning on painting his 70 Monte about that color.
